Aside from the blue coloring, Tygra is SPOT on! His face is Tygra, probably the best representation thus far! Great job HH!!!
Merged Post:
This is in the right direction but its too minty green. His costume is in between the Blue shot and the green, thats what makes it so tricky. Its a muted/faded color green-blue blend.

Hi Grizzlor, please show Hard Hero the above.
GREAT product, TERRIBLE colour choice. He is green, not blue. Please refer to your cels:
I like how the colors look on the statue. It looks amazing in person. I wasn't going to collect this line, but with Cheetara's changes, Mumm-Ra's perfection, and Tygra's reveal, I'm definitely in. Gonna get Lion-O at one of the booths tomorrow.
I can't wait to see Mumm-Ra (non-mummy) and Panthro!

But personally i'd opt for the Blue/Gray version. It's radiating better!
Me too, I prefer the light blue and gray combination. That is how I always remembered Tygra.
Dave.. thanks for the pics of the cels. I agree that the color tint appears to be green in those cels, but there are many shots from the videos that appear to be more light blue and gray than green. Of course even the LJN toys had Tygra in green. But even if we consider the original cels to be the accurate representation, there are screen shots from the DVDs that show that the color scheme varies throughout the series depending where the scenes were depicted. Exterior, interior, close up, group shot etc. So the original color combination for Tygra is highly debatable and can't really be confined to one set of colors. Also as Lord LionO mentioned the color itself is actually a blend of both.
Here are couple of screen shots, the first image shows the green/blue mix while the rest don't.
Tygra 01 - 101 - Exodus
Tygra 02 - 101 - Exodus
Tygra 03 - 101 - Exodus
Tygra 04 -107 - Trouble With Time
Tygra 05 - 125 - Snarf Takes Up The Challenge
I would prefer if they atleast went with that dark gray color for the chest and feet.

All the Hard Hero statues look great despite the color differences with Tygra.
I even found myself tempted and looking at the prices of these statues tonight...but since my hubby is going to allow me to spend a crap-load of money on one statue.....I better not push my luck on considering other statues. LOL
Great job Hard Hero! They look great.

Hi, I suppose it's up to personal preference, I just couldn't see a blue Tygra in the line. The point I was making is that, for every screen grab, the original cel is green. The differences, when they are there, are caused by cel photography-post production-transmission or DVD encoding. I haven't found a single cel (out of hundreds online) with the blue colouring. The original colour mix sent to Pacific Animation departments would have been green.
Look at the difference on these examples, he is always green, it's just the various stages that change the hue. Remember, the LJN toys were all sent to Rankin/Bass for final approval. He was approved as green!
Cheers
Dave

Ah.. those exact frame and cel comparsions, thanks again Dave.

I was wondering if that could have been the reason as well. So how did they allow such a major color swap of a character to occur throughout the series? The green is barely recognizable in any of the episodes.
I am grown to the gray shades rather than the green ones. But your comparison shots convinced me that it should be green all along.

Thanks Dave for shedding light on this one. As Vivek mentioned, i've been also accustomed to Tygra's Blue/Gray look. Your arguement is valid and judging by the original cell pics of Rankin/Bass you have provided, the Green colour must be the authentic. My belief that Tygra was generally portrayed in Blue shades is based on the cartoon as i've seen it, broadcasted on TV,in the DVD release and older VHS recordings. Out of my best recollection(and believe me i've seen the 130 episodes many times that i remember every single detail), Tygra was mainly depicted in blue tint rather than Green, and even though the original cells is the genuine as you correctly stated, the material we are all used to form an opinion and pass judgement is the image and text of the cartoon as shown in our screens.

Hi Lordore, It must just be how people attribute colours. Personally, I've always seen his colours as green in the show. Some screengrabs here to illustrate the point. I think the blue tint is in the minority. Unless, of course we're going for underwater Tygra!

You are right Dave, as you said it depends on each man's perspective. Thank you for sharing the original cells, Tygra no matter what, has a great visual presence!
Take care,fellow thunderian friend!

how do you know a non mummy mumm-ra and panthro will be produced as have hard hero said they will be producing these after tygra?
i would personally prefer these as we will now be having 4 thundercats and only 1 baddy so we could do with the non-mummy mumm-ra. And as vultureman has been done by icon heros monkian or another mumm-ra seems more likely

Honestly, it doesn't really matter to me which is the true color and which is not. I prefer the blue/gray comibination that Hard Hero has chosen just because the statue looks better this way. And truly, it does look AMAZING!
This is by far the best one yet, probably followed by Lion-O, IMO. I am not going to collect this line, but I am 99% sure that I will be buying Tygra (hopefully blue/gray!) when he goes on sale.
Great job, Hard Hero!! Can't wait to see Panthro and Lynx-O!!!

On Statue Forum, Rob worded it as "Mumm-Ra (decayed version first)". Only reason to say decayed version first, is if another version (Ever-Living) will also be made. I don't think I read anything about Panthro, but Slithe has been confirmed as well.
Only bad guy I have seen for Icon Heroes is Jackalman, did I miss Vultureman somewhere?

Tygra is awsome...and yes blue/gray works best for me too...the colour in the cels may be blue-green but when you put the backgrounds behind it turns to blue...maybe that was their purpose at the first place!

No one knows, but if you go by the "schedule" of Lion-O Q1, Cheetara Q2, and Mumm-Ra Q3, one could guesstimate that Tygra will be scheduled for Q4. Unless, he is an exclusive like Ben-Gali, but it is unlikely they would have 2 exclusives in a row...
Now logically, we have already entered Q3 and are still waiting on Cheetara, and Ben-Gali is supposed to come out in the next 4-8 weeks (August/September). So we can only assume that Mumm-Ra will get pushed back a bit, unless Hard Hero is willing (and able) to put out 3 statues in under 3 months to get back on track production-wise. Personally, I do not expect Mumm-Ra until Q4, so my guesstimate is that Tygra is a late Q4/early Q1 '11 release...

Tygra probably will come out the same period with the PCS Lion-o, Jan/Fab
I think it would be best if HH stick to the schedule with the release of the rest

It seems like every collectible company is running behind these days, sadly. Sideshow seems to be the only company on top of shipping/production. Given the sheer size of the company, however, that's no real surprise.
Looking forward to Tygra but especially looking forward to the other THREE I know have on preorder!
