Chris here...

Here's what I've been able to complete so far for the Toy Section:

Distribution Overseas article: http://www.thundercatslair.org/relaunch/toys/ljn/toy-overview/distribution-overseas

Mail Away Offers article: http://www.thundercatslair.org/relaunch/toys/ljn/toy-overview/mail-away-offers (NOTE, I've actually made a couple of tiny minor updates to this, including the addition of two more scans from the UK comic advertising the Thunder Warriors club - please take a look and make sure what I've done is OK)

ThunderCats Toy Instructions - I won't link to every page but you should find that clicking on all the relevant links takes you where you want to go: http://www.thundercatslair.org/relaunch/toys/ljn/toy-overview/thundercats-toy-instructions

Toy Advertisements article: http://www.thundercatslair.org/relaunch/toys/ljn/toy-overview/toy-advertisements

Toy Background article: http://www.thundercatslair.org/relaunch/toys/ljn/toy-overview/toy-background

US vs UK article: http://www.thundercatslair.org/relaunch/toys/ljn/toy-overview/us-vs-uk

MannyC, your pages are looking really good, well done to you & Neil for the great work you're doing here!

To answer a question from the other thread - yep, I can build you guys a Vehicle template for the LJN Toy Guide, that's no problem! :)

Take care... :)

Thanks Chris...as it stands all the figures on series 1 are complete. The only thing we need is to have some sort of template for the vehicles which can prove to be a bit difficult to tackle.

I will complete the sword of omens today so all that will be left of the Series 1 will be the vehicles

Merged Post:
As it stands I shoud be done with all of Series 3 before Friday of next week.

Chris: Please take a look at the Sword of Omens. Im having a problem figuring out the gray box next to the pictures and also the pictures look a bit out of whack, not sure how to fix that...and if you can make up a template for the vehicles that would be great. If you can do those damn vehicles that would be even better since they are a hell of lot more complicated than the standard figure template.

If you can make up a template to do the prototypes (which seem to be standard for all of them then I will get on those as well)

This seems to be rather easy to do provided there is an established template. If you can help with those that would be great so we can seriously put a dent on the progress of the toy section

Sorry to ask for so much but the templates would greatly help us move forward without putting much on you and you can put more efforts on your section

MannyC, no problems whatsoever - it's my pleasure to help! :) You & Neil are doing great with these!

I'll take a look at the Sword of Omens and the vehicles over the weekend, I plan to set aside most of either Saturday or Sunday (or both) to work on the Toy Section stuff so I'll see what I can come up with! I'll also try and work up a template for the Prototypes, which as you say are close to an identical layout each time! :)

Take care... :)

Neil: Ive noticed that some of the ones you did are missing the sight beyond sight veiwer header

I've corrected those, I must have been using a slightly older template than what Manny was using.

Well to be honest Manny has done much more work than me, however I will get through as much as possible. I dare not do more tonight while I'm drinking my Strongbow :D

Neil is there any figures you would like me to work on...if you havent done the Companions yet I can work on those
#7
Yeah Manny, if you want to do the companions, that would be cool :)

Already done...

I also did Snarf Plush and Mummy Mumm-Ra. To speed things up you can probably use the same templates from series one for characters such as Panthro, Tygra, Cheetara, Monkian, etc. All you would have to do is change some of the pictures and modify the text to match whatever the series 2 text is.
Hopefully that makes a little sense.

If you can post what you have completed so far I can add it to my edited 1st post

Geez Chris...youre doing this like its so easy...Thanks much for the template. Ill try using it for the different vehicles.

If you can work up a simple one for the prototypes I can probably get a good amount of them done before next Friday. Im on a roll here so I'd like to keep going until I go away for the weekend.

If I can get a template for the prototypes I will more than likely finish that section completely before Friday

Chris here...

No problems whatsoever, MannyC! :)

Just to test that the template was adaptable, I've gone ahead and done the Mutant Skycutter as well:

http://www.thundercatslair.org/relaunch/toys/ljn/ljn-toy-guide/mutant-skycutter

Either of these will work as a template, although none of the others have the declaration below the Thundertank box art image that say it's from a UK box...so, perhaps the Skycutter one would be best to use. :)

I notice that a couple of the vehicle pages have an extra image to load in the viewer (7 images rather than 6) - if you find this is the case, just replace one of the empty table cells (marked as <td>&nbsp;</td>) with the relevant image link and accompanying code. :)

Any problems or anything you need help with, just give me a yell and I'll jump right on it! :)

EDIT: Just to add that this same template should also work for transferring over the Cats Lair and Mumm-Ra's Tomb playsets too! :)

Take care... :)

Thanks much Chris...these templates have been of great help and it should definitely put us way ahead while giving you time to focus more on your section.

I believe once we have established templates for all the sections that it will be such a breeze adding new content to the website. I still have to deal with some of the coding especially for the images but overall adding content has been very easy to do.

I have a lot of stuff that hasnt made it to the site yet such as design drawings etc and with the templates it will be very easy to do now.

I must admit I was kind of put off at working with Wordpress but now that I have worked with it, it is very user friendly

It's all cool, MannyC, thanks for your kind words! :) I plan to focus on anything that you guys need me to do in the Toy Section first before setting back to work on my stuff - I'm being serious when I say I think the Toy Section is one of the most important areas of the site and even though before now I thought it was a lofty goal, I don't think it's out of the question to think the site might relaunch in early February with the Toy Section completely transferred! :)

That was the idea, and yes I agree - once you have a template for something it makes the concept of adding more content a lot less daunting than if every page needs building from scratch! :)

Whoo-hoo, that's awesome news! What I'd like to suggest is that if there's anything you, Neil or Matt want adding to the site, what I can do is build a template page for that material and then you guys can go ahead and just add content to that template - it makes your lives easier and allows me to keep my web design chops intact too! :D

Yeah, once you get the hang of it it's pretty straightforward. You guys have both used a WordPress-powered site before, because eBay is now powered by WordPress and has been for some time - the daunting bit is being faced with this alien control panel and blank page, once I figured out what I was doing I was pretty well away! :)

Prototype template coming up...stay tuned, same Bat time, same Bat channel! :)

Take care... :)

EDIT: OK, here's the Prototypes template! :)

http://www.thundercatslair.org/relaunch/toys/ljn/prototypes/mumm-ra-with-purple-body

This works basically the same as the LJN Toy Guide template I put together, except for a few small differences - most of these I suspect you guys would've figured out by yourselves anyway, but just for ease I've listed them all here:

  • The "parent" page for these pages should be Prototypes
  • The "alt text" for each image will obviously need changing for each different page (as per the LJN Toy Guide)
  • The width and height properties for the image at the bottom of the page (that links to the larger image) will need redefining each time, as each one is a different size

The rest of it should be all pretty straightforward - oh, except for one other thing, and that's that a couple of them have the incorrect text at the bottom from when Kyle put these pages together (sorry Kyle!), so you guys may like to correct these errors. :)

As always, any problems or anything you need help with, give me a yell and I'll get on it ASAP! :)

Take care... :)

Chris youre awesome...thanks so much for the templates. Ive begun work on the prototype section and expect to be finished with all of them today or tomorrow at the latest. Ill work on vehicles as well as the playsets so hopefully those can get done this week.

if anyone wants to see the progress I will update my 1st post with what is completed, that should give everyone an idea of where we are at.

Ok guys the entire Prototype section is complete, all 32 pages. I will be taking a break and probably work on finishing Series 1 and 3 before going away this weekend. After that there really shouldnt be much left over but part of Series 2 and some articles

So far I've done all the good guys figures from series 2. I will try to get the figures completed over the next day or so.

So far I've done:

Lion-O with Snarf (orange hair)
Tygra with Wilykat (old)
Tygra with Wilykat (young)
Tygra (old)
Cheetara
Cheetara with Wilykit
Panthro
Snowman of Hook Mountain
Tuska Warrior
Hachiman

I've also added bits here and there to improve the pages (mainly in places where is said N/A before on the old guide)

Wow Manny! You have flown through them so fast!

Ive updated my main post to show what has been completed so far (not including the articles Chris did). I think after Series 2 is complete then we will be pretty close in completing the toy section. If we can complete it before end of january perhaps we can get started with the minis. We could probably use something similar to the prototype templates for those since it may be hard to get different angles of the minis

Ive breezed through quite a bit of them since there is not much going on at work so I have a few hours to do it. I figured I may as well do as much as i can now before my next semester starts and before i go on holidays

We will be very close! :) It will basically be a bunch of articles that need doing. I'm asking myself whether the Variations are also template-based and whether I'd be able to set you two up with a template for that that you'd be able to update - that would help get the whole Toy Section complete in time for early February! :)

And can I just add, MannyC & Neil, you two have done amazing work here (particularly the Herculean lightning-fast efforts of MannyC), well done to you both, absolutely brilliant!

I absolutely LOVE this idea - it would be AMAZING to relaunch the site with some new material in the Toy Section!

I can easily whip you guys up a template and do anything you need - and yeah, I don't think a Toy Viewer-type setup would be necessary for the mini's section, as I *think* the images Matt provided are mostly from one angle - here's all the material Matt provided: http://www.thundercatslair.org/staff/matt/Minis/ (may need a password input to access). :)

Chris thanks for all your help. If i may ask...can you make a template that we can use for the minis. My best guess is that you would probably have to check the pictures and see what kind of info can be added to the template.

Im very tempted to work on the minis to tell you the truth, and if you can make a simple template for the variations those can get at least started with what we have available.

Hey MannyC, it would be my pleasure to make a template for the mini's, and I'll take a look at doing one for the Variations as well - I'll see what I can come up with! :)

Quick question - are the mini's anything to do with LJN or were they made by a completely separate company? :)

Take care... :)
