Someone, maybe you, mentioned the turtle van before and I didn’t even think about it because I don’t collect turtles. But I think the turtle van would have been a better choice for their first vehicle now that I see what they’re doing. The van likely has way more obvious things that can be added to or enhanced in it. The tank needed more time and thought if all they’ve done is scale it up. Hopefully additional details are coming.

I did, yes and perhaps that's right, particularly with Thundercats Ultimates running so late. Super7 need to do a video for the Thundertank to give people more of an idea of what to expect.

It's a Super7 custom design, they weren't based on the original model sheet design like Icon Heroes did, I like the front but not the sides. Apparently, some pieces are missing from the crawler tracks. Also, for that price need plastic tread, the rubber will not last long.

This has been an interesting reveal. I want to maybe help explain a bit about making toys like this. Vehicles are a thankless proposition. There is a reason you see very few vehicles ever made for a line of figures. The amount of work and extra tooling that goes into a vehicle: all the supports and turning mechanisms, interior and exterior parts, etc. are immense. There is 2-3x the engineering on a vehicle vs a playset. Vehicles are generally speaking incredibly difficult and expensive to make, and much fewer people buy them because of the space they take up. Hasbro made a razor crest scaled to 3.75” and it was $350. This is scaled to a 7” figure, and is $450. They sold 28,000 Razor Crests, if we get past 10% of that number I will be stoked. (Think about how many people you know that collect Star Wars and how many collect Thundercats. It’s a much smaller group of being by a large margin.) the Thundertank is big, it’s awesome and unfortunately it also means it will be expensive. You can fit more than 4 LJN Thundertanks inside this one. I wish I could tell you something like this is cheap and easy to make, but it’s not, and as much as we love Thundercats, not that many other people do. It’s not a license that makes millions of figures a year. It’s a small group of die-hard fans, and this is for them. It’s the Ultimate Thundertank ever. It’s everything you (and we) wanted it to be, but that all comes with a price. Everyone wants it to be big enough so all the figures can sit in the back of the Thundertank, sit two figures up front, the jaw and arms opens up, all the wheels roll, all the guns, the eyes glow in the dark, etc. all of that takes space. All that space costs money. This is an interesting test. Can the desires of collecting and the reality of manufacturing actually work? I guess we will all find out together.

The proto is clearly 3D printed. I'd rather pay them for the STL files and print my own at this price.
#68
Well, they’re definitely going to get 200 of these sold which is my guess at the floor.

Feature wise so far we have - Glow in the dark eyes, removable cannon for the back, and I would imagine a removable canopy for the cockpit. The canopy and the cannon, to me, should be expected in an "ultimate" Thundertank. Glow in the dark eyes are cool. I personally love glow in the dark but dont know if it was really needed for the thundertank but I'll take it. But i really hope there are more accessories and or features coming along with this. Idk maybe when more/better pictures are released, i will be a bit more enthused. For $450 + (im guessing at least) $50 shipping i really hope there is more to this."It's huge" is not a selling point for me.

Jesus! The tank is going to be 450 plus shipping.

That's the price of 2 and a half sets of a Wave, so like 10 Ultimates figures. I may be itching my $450 to 10 TC Ultimates figures than the 'Tank if it doesn't have much features. :unsure

The Super7 ThunderTank is a beast, all right, but I'm not certain if it'll work right if the company ever plans to release it.
#72
As nice as it looks I just don't have the room for something like that, not to mention the price tag of $450.00 plus shipping. Its almost as much as Snake Mountain cost. That was $600.00 plus shipping. I'm more interested in the figures than vehicles.
So I'm going to have to pass on the Ultimates Thundertank but for those that order it I hope you enjoy it.

The sticker shock is understandable. A friend of mine asked me the other day what they think it'd cost. I thought $350, and as low as $225 and as high as $400. I was wrong, lol.

But I have a toy addiction and will be getting this amazingly big vehicle. I hope the long pre-order gives folks time who need to save up. I'm glad Super7 is going all out on the size. I'd rather pay $450 for a full size Thundertank than $275 on a half pint.

Thanks for sharing that. The price is steep, but like Snake Mountain, buying an extra to resell in a year or two might recoup your initial purchase and then some. This is gonna be super limited.

Somebody actually commented on another socmed site that the price is the same as a PS5. That guy may be right. I may opt for the PS5 more than this.

First of all, for those of you that have waited for 30 years to have this sucker, I'm really happy for you. My guess is Flynn knows that though Thundercats are a small niche market for toy collectors, they are extremely loyal and fervent. The initial sales will certainly be those people and I'm glad for them to have their iconic centerpiece.

As I said before, I spend most of my time on Star Wars forums and I have an entire collectibles room dedicated to that and a few other major toy lines. I never owned any original Thundercats figures, so these have been fun, but I can't get over the price. It sucks that we are left saying, so for 10 TC ultimates I can get a Thundertank. In reality, those 10 TC Ultimates are totally overpriced too! So it's not a fair comparison in my eyes. My only two cents are that I see no value whatsoever here - I think Super7 is once again fleecing a collector market and preying on the niche fans. Trust me - people were complaining about the $350 Razor Crest ship over on the Star Wars forums and that thing had to be crowdfunded! I get that more units were sold - but that ship has zero electronics or real action "features" - no better than a hollow model and it should be $100-$150. Thankfully, most Star Wars vehicles that are constantly overpriced can be had on sale at retail after the initial zealots buy outright. Star Wars is even worse for fans throwing their money at anything Star Wars, just because.

I feel for Thundercats fans more - I mean really, what else is out there or HAS been out there, for decades (not counting modern line)? Nada. It's basically like, THIS is your chance and good luck buying it for 1K on the eBay market if you miss out. I've really grown to hate the "adult collector" industry - it's predatory, unfair and totally greedy. It disgusts me - as does this price. I was hoping to get it so I had a cool corner where my figures could be displayed around it, but at $450 it's hardly worth it for me. Just check out the Instagram page for Super7, about half the people commenting (included me lol) are outright bashing them for their ludicrous pricing. Matty Collector was online only, like Super7, and they managed to make an entire Castle Grayskull for $300. Just look at all the other toylines in history, when has a vehicle ever cost more than a playset? (minus USS FLAGG for GI JOE) - try never. I'm guessing this is representative of a breaking point for a lot of collectors, even die-hard ones that will simply be priced out of this. Curious to see if this will be a line-in-the-sand moment for collecting in general, or if it will be surprisingly successful. I want it, but I really don't think I'll end up buying.

This is where I am. I’m deeply unhappy about the price point. My initial plan was to buy two (maybe even three) until the price reveal with the exact plan to resell the extra(s) for recoup once appreciation set in. But this price point means there won’t be much appreciation if any. It’s just too far along the curve.
So while I definitely am getting one, I can’t see getting additional. I think S7’s analysis betrayed them on this. A $400 point might have yielded sufficient change in volume to compensate for the decrease in margin. I wonder if the number is from their data or if this was a push.

MOTUC Castle Grayskull did a pre-order in late 2012, over 8 years ago and toy prices have skyrocketed since. $450 is still a lot of money for anything, especially with so many people losing jobs the last year. On the flipside, I've seen skyrocketing costs on eBay for toys. Inflation. We've definitely left the era of reasonably priced toys.

I think a lot of people are in that boat. However, that means this will be even more of a limited release. Now it's hard to tell what the aftermarket will be for ThunderCats Ultimates since only one wave, just re-releases, have come out a short time ago. But it seems most MOTUC Ultimates that have sold out have jumped up. ThunderCats by LJN always has a high market. I think someone could double or triple their investment in an Ultimates Thundertank in a few years, but $450 a pop is a serious investment that most of us don't have laying around to buy multiples of.

That price is very ouch. It looks great so far though. I will need to see more.

Looking at Pixel Dan video interview with Brian, I can say that Super7 ThunderTank is nothing like this ThunderTank, too bad.

After watching the Pixel Dan interview it looks like accessory wise we are lookin at the removable back cannon, a clear cockpit canopy, and an "armored" cockpit canopy, and a bin of thundrillium(?). I was really thinking/hoping there would be more accessory wise. I don't know where all those rumors of "lights and sounds" came from but unless there are waiting to do a surprise reveal of that, which i highly doubt, doesn't look like thats happening.
