Someone tell Lion-O that he’s blocking Panthro’s view... and our view of Panthro!

It's still a mockup entirely, right? Just need to wait for the features.

I think this is the actual prototype. We’ll see more soon.

Can't wait to see more pictures, especially the back interior. What a dream come true vehicle. I've been wanting a Thundertank for 35 years!

I'm so excited about this. The price tag will hurt I'm sure, but it's still a must have!

I'm curious, did you like the one from the Cartoon Network Thundercats series? I think it was from 2012 - I own the tank with the launching bikes, I think it's pretty cool for what it is. I have never been able to ask old school Thundercats fans if they liked the modern series - to me it got TOO Anime, even though the OG Thundercats certainly have an Anime look, they still had that realistic 80s cartoon feel with just a flare of Anime in the action sequences. I prefer that greatly and the original Thundertank myself, so this one is certainly exciting.
Sorry if I sound like a newb, I have like 5,000 posts over on Rebelscum for Star Wars but this is the first time I get to talk new Thundercats! I just wish these darn figures were cheaper...

Most OG fans seem to like 2011. I am not one of those, I dislike it but respect its ambition to elevate and expand the lore.
The tank is a perfect talking point for the crux my issues: in their ambition to elevate and expand the lore, they got too far away from some of the aesthetics and feel of the original. That 2011 is both cool and generic at the same time - and is definitely not the same feel as the original. That’s just one example I chose given the thread topic.

I liked it for what it was but to me, it was very different from the original. I like the original a lot more but it was nice to see a different take on it without it being total rubbish. It had it's flaws but a good show overall which deserved a longer lifespan. As for the tank, I didn't mind it in the show but I was not keen on the Bandai toy. Nothing will ever compare to the original Thundertank. I still have the LJN one which has always been one of my favourite toys. Panthro always drives while Tygra and Cheetara go in the back with Tygra operating the cannon. They always show up in the nick of time to help Lion-O and those pesky kids.

I agree. I hope it can be acquired for 300 or less. It's like a holy grail. Growing up, my favourite vehicles were the Thundertank, the Turtle Van from TMNT and the Batmobile (Michael Keaton version and animated series version).

The way I like to put it is that almost everything from the original was iconic. Almost nothing from 2011 was despite having a more thought-out lore and storyline. Don’t get me started on the 2011 versions of the core team, especially Panthro. Anyway, as I noted don’t take my opinion as prevalent, I’m likely in the minority.

That's true. It lacked the originality that the 80's show had because it wasn't an original idea, it was a reboot. I didn't like the core team from the 2011 show anywhere near as much as the core team from the 80's. Modern reboots often lack the charm of the original, both character wise and storyline wise. The storyline in the 2011 show seemed as though it was overthought if anything and as though it didn't know it's audience. I preferred the messages in the original show. People can say that even the 80's show wasn't totally original, but that's another matter. What I would say on that is that perhaps it wasn't totally original, as most things aren't 100% but for the most part, I think it is when you actually explore and analyse it.

Not too far off with my $600 estimate. $450 with probably near $100 dollars will bring it to around $550.
It will be interesting to see what features and accessories they include with the tank for that price.

Well you'd have to think it would have some cool features in order to justify the purchase. I think for many, the size and price range could be a stumbling block. I'm sure it will be cool and it does look good. It's just hard to know how good it's actually going to be at this stage. Those pictures don't show much. At the moment, I think it's the idea of it that appeals. It's actually bigger than I initially thought. The size and price does actually put me off a bit. I felt as though I wanted it at first but thinking about it now, I'm not so sure. I'm not actually surprised by the price, I just don't personally think it will end up being worth it. It would matter more to me if I didn't have a Thundertank but seeing as how that isn't the case, I don't feel like it's essential. The price is doable but stupid and it will take up too much space. If I didn't collect other toylines and have loads of other stuff then there would be plenty of space but as it is, not so much, maybe just about. If I got this, I'd probably want a TMNT Ultimates Turtle Van which would be the same price and take up just as much space in all likelihood. It gets too much then, both in regards to price and space. I think if people buy this tank and some will, it will only be a matter of time before they make the turtle van.
