rodzm is actually my account and that video was posted on the site using the link on YouTube.

LiarDice sent me that video and the Red Eye pictures but the pictures were sent from Jordan. I not sure if he is the one who owns the Quickjaws and that is how he did the video or if Jordan provided him with a video which he then forwarded to me. In any case there is nothing LiarDice can do since he has no proof it is his video.

Im still stuck to my guns at leaving the material up

Jordan says the pics are his, but has said he can provide better images for the site. I believe this hints at more than one Red Eye (probably a painted one perhaps?)

My suggestion is to leave them down for now, since Wayne has been told they will be taken down. If the situation alters, they are easy to put back up.

and it seems Wayne now regrets his actions as he just sent me an email apology and wants to be unbanned. I've forwarded the email and my response over to both Chris and Manny.

Thanks Neil for the email. My vote towards this is to keep the ban and give the guy two weeks to a month to cool off. Im inclined towards a 2 week to 1 month ban on this but more on the 2 week time frame.

In any case im against lifting the ban just yet...perhaps 2 weeks will do the job. Also FWIW i would suggest to issue an apology to HH if it hasnt been done yet as well as to BBTS

I think MannyC's recommendation sounds reasonable. It was at least 3 posts and seemed to be very disrespectful to both companies that are helping support this forum. If he is sorry for his actions, an apology to the companies he bad-mouthed shouldn't be an issue. If it is an issue, then it is better to know before he gets unbanned.

Chris here...

As regards the content, I'd like to leave it down for the moment, just so that it looks like we complied with LiarDice's instructions...however, one of the beautiful things about WordPress is that the deletion of the content should be reversible with a couple of clicks of a button! ;)

As to the ban and whether to lift it, I'm going to surprise you and say that I'd be willing to consider this. I'm also going to surprise you and say that I wouldn't have a problem with unbanning him right away...

...however, in that circumstance, I would like to propose that a direct condition of the ban being reversed is that he posts a full, public apology in the "Hmmmm" thread, directly retracting the comments he's made about us, Hollywood Heroes, and BBTS.

My reason for proposing this is because it actually gauges how serious (or not) he is with this apology - if he's prepared to do it publicly then I would say fair play to him, because it means he's serious about it, whereas if he's not prepared to apologise publicly, it means he's speaking hollow words! ;) He should also be told that if he steps a toe out of line again there won't be another second chance.

Anyway, that's my take, but as always I'll go with a majority ruling! :)

Take care... :)

I would be willing to go along with He-Fan's suggestion. However, I noticed this rather suspicious coincidence (see screenshot attachment). Join date for RedEye is today, matt_mercer was in April. Both happen to be the only users to share an IP address with Mr. LiarDice, and both have a total of 1 post, in response to a Wayne T thread (different threads) about pre-production items. It is suspicious at the very least.

But whenever we allow him to come back, I fully support the public apology idea. As Jaga once said, "better to be an honest enemy than a false friend".

LiarDice is using his alternate email address to post. Im banning that one as well and sending him a message. He has just extended his ban

The Matt Mercer account is also his BTW. 3 IPs with different user names is no coincidence...on top of that we do not tolerate members impersonating others, especially an current artist on the series.

Merged Post:
I have sent LiarDice (Wayne) an email concerning his circumventing activities. I wont go into too much detail about the email and I have forwarded it to Chris and Neil.

I say and reaffirm that he is permanently banned from the site. Call me rough but the email from him doesnt reflect any sort of apologetic behavior. He had his chance and ruined it by saying: "Your site has become a sell out to corporates and liars who are sycophants."

Yep, as far as I'm concerned this action and these remarks show that his apologies are hollow and that he's unrepentant regarding his behaviour.

Scrub my earlier post - no second chances for this dude. ;)

Take care... :)

I concur. I'm all for giving a second chance to someone who is sincere and just got carried away once. But to be apologetic one moment then go back to being a rude jerk really shoots down the whole sincerely sorry part.

I am ok with a permanent ban based on the 3 strike rule:
#1: the thread yesterday
#2: creating a new account to get around the ban/making an account name to look like someone else
#3: rude E-mail to MannyC (I am guessing in response to catching/banning the accounts from #2)

I never wanted to let him back. He was extremely rude and insulting to us in his email replies.

He has also sent me an email threat which I'm taking very seriously and forwarding on to Hostmonster themselves. If he tries anything he will be in deep trouble.

The following message was sent to you via the ThunderCats Lair Message Boards/Forums Contact Us form by RedEye ( mailto:chest_rockwelluk@yahoo.co.uk ).

Hostmonster isn't his normal ISP. The closest I see is a 72. address which is scansafe. I also see a sky and bethere as well as several "N/A".

Just an FYI.
#32
Hostmonster is our host for the site and forum ;)
#33
Oops. My bad. I thought that was the IP he was using to send the E-mail. Or as Homer J. Simpson would say.... D'Oh!

Like you, this is something I take VERY seriously. Making any sort of threat in this way is a criminal offence.

Although I'm not certain what can be done by forwarding this onto Hostmonster? Wouldn't the better course of action be to forward this onto his ISP, or some other similar authority? (No challenge intended - it's highly likely by saying this that I'm missing something obvious, LOL!) :)

To be honest I'm not really sure what sort of problems he could inflict on our site from tomorrow - there are only a few things I can think of:

1) Poisoning our name to cause some sort of mass reaction (in which case he can only state accurate facts or else that's also a criminal offence)
2) SQL injection attack on our site (WordPress) or forums - although I would've thought WordPress / vBulletin would be set-up to guard against that?
3) Hacking into our system and deleting stuff
4) Hacking into our system and planting malware or some other virus software

Options #2, #3 & #4 all require a VERY skilled computer expert / hacker - and, it goes without saying that they're also all criminal offences, I believe punishable by time in jail.

But yeah, I take this very seriously and think you're right, Neil, to be forwarding this on to the proper authorities. :)

Take care... :)

I think you forgot about Denial of Service attack. If we won't let him back in, he may try to make it where nobody can access the site. That's also a criminal offense I believe.

Yep, you're right, I did forget this - thanks for reminding me, an excellent call! :) And yep, my understanding is that if it's done deliberately it is also a criminal offence.

I must confess I truly fail to see how a seemingly ordinary individual (in resources if not in mental state) like LiarDice could initiate any of these things but he must have had something in mind when he made that threat.

I don't want to be pushing the panic button unnecessarily as this threat is likely hollow, but at the same time I think we need to be on our guards for something and be prepared to take action quickly if needs be. :)

Take care... :)

Hostmonster say the best action to take is:

-Make backups of databases (I've done this, but could you do it as well Chris?)
-Change passwords on FTP accounts, hosting account pass word etc...
-Make sure add on scripts like Wordpress are up to date (I've upgraded WP in the WP interface)

They say their servers are secure, so the only way would be to hack into Wordpress, FTP etc... wondering if changing all the FTP access passwords would be a good idea?

For a DOS attack wouldn't he needs thousands of users to help him? Is that where the servers are overloaded because of the amount of unique visitors all at once?

To be honest I think it was said just to scare us.

While I am a techie by trade, network security is not my specialty. I had to consult wikipedia for confirmation (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Denial-of-service_attack). Basically a DoS would put a strain on the site's resources and bandwidth to make it slow to respond and/or time out.

Thousands of users are not needed. If you have access to a computer that can access other computers, one person can basically unleash an army of computers on a site to create a DoS. The network admin at my work has accidentally made the wrong change and created a DoS against ourselves in a matter of seconds. It is amazing how fast a college network can take itself out.

While it takes skill and knowledge to pull off, unfortunately bad apples tend to find each other. Let's hope he hasn't found any tech savy bad apples.

Chris here...

This asshole just posted on our Facebook page - I deleted the comment and banned him from posting on our page:

Just buy from eBay now people. Thanks Neil for banning my ip address for speaking my mind. I feel I could be in North Korea

If ever somebody needs reporting to their ISP, it's this jerk!

Take care... :)

This guy is clearly not in his right mind...the whole threat thing with the site does have me a bit worried because he is the type of character who would do anything to harm or damage someone or something.

Maybe it is all talk but this guy certainly should be allowed to come back in any shape or form so we will have to keep a lookout on any suspicious user names and ISPs
