REALLY? That's rude and uncalled for Using brian's head. This should be removed

I see you edited your post from one asking me to remove my image to one calling for it to be removed for me. I know from experience that the mods here have no issue editing or removing posts. We've even seen members and every post they ever made expunged from the forum. I think if Seb was going to delete it he would have done, he said he doesn't like it and we know where we stand and are moving on.

If my post is edited for me then I think I'll have to call it done with this place. If I can't even have a laugh at the expense of a company that currently has delivered 4 out of 16 figures I've paid for, and has also put pre-orders up for the tank and a wave of Silverhawks, then what can I do? Members are told to think happy thoughts and are not even allowed to voice opinions if they haven't pre-ordered.

I never tease anyone who I think can't take it, and lets not forget that Brian isn't averse to a little teasing. Or did we all forget the cancellation announcement from Super7 in 2017.

Watch from 3:30 onwards.

No worries, Booshman. I actually dug your joke. :)

@Booshman you should have joked about him offering Silverhawks to come to the guy's Birthday party but not the Thundercats he ordered. ;):laugh

This is a public forum for Thundercats fans, not the official Super 7 fan club.

Booshman is correct. I could have deleted his post. I did not as it is not my place to do so and suggested that it be removed instead. I find the joke funny, I just don’t agree with using his image. I have discussed it with a fellow moderator offline too. It is Booshman’s choice to leave or delete. His opinions are valid, as is everybody else’s. The forum is open to all opinions as long as we do not get personal and you know-the-rest-of-the-forum-rules. We disagree and I remain of the opinion stated before; but we’ve moved on and are talking toys again.

I want Melodia made!

So what are your thoughts on the “chrome aspect”? If you aren’t up to date as to WHY they aren’t, BF explained it before. Vac-metal + articulation = not a good pair. Rather, that’s the short & sweet of it.

I'm glad they didn't go with vacmetal personally.
Not only do I think these figures look closer to how they do in the show, you don't have to worry about the stuff flaking off.

I'll just try to remember the usual quote below each photo:

*All images are of prototypes. They may differ from the actual finished product.

Remember how the previous TC Ultimates images and prototypes have no joint pins and the final product has? I still doubt these images will probably turn lesser on the final product with that 'chrome aspect'.

I wanted the chrome and miss it. I wish they had found a way to make it work. I do think the 'Hawks need more sparkly or shine.

A very interesting video about Super 7's licencing and over pricing.

Quick edit.

These are an approximation of what the figures would look like with metallic paint.

Apparently the official photos have already been retouched to remove contrast and modify the color. It's possible that the original work of the Four Horsemen is closer to that of my edits. I've verified that they are not digital renderings, are physical prototypes photographs.

Hmmm, I only noticed this now. Having removeable arms to replace it with flying mode wings. We rarely or never had toy figures with this idea before. For anyone who had their figures dismantled, does 'on-and-off' arm replacement loosen and scratch the pin grips to the shoulders? :00

Probably. We may have to warm up to get the arms out.
What do you think of the color edit?

I trust they will give us a suitable on/off option.

Interesting Brian categorically stating they're going for an animation accurate look to these Silverhawks. Why is it when anything that is not animation accurate to the Thundercats line is mentioned, be it sculpting choices, scale, proportions or colours. Super 7 defenders are quick to point out that that isn't the objective of the line?

So, Silver Hawks, show accurate. TMNT, toy accurate. Thundercats ???

Also within a couple of questions we go from vac metal is not possible to it could be a possibilty as a variant one day? Which is it?

Brian souds to be more of a Silverhawks fan than he is for Thundercats, both here and and in other interviews I've watched. He has a enthusiasm and knowledge about the property which I see when he talks about TMNT, Toxic Crusaders and some other lines. Hopefully this enthusiasm carries over into the finished product.

The TMNT toys aren't even exactly toy accurate.

It's been established before that ThunderCats was a mix of both cartoon and the Classics-machine look, leaning more towards cartoon though as its inspiration.

Regarding the Vac Metal comment, it will not work in this format. What he said was that Super7 may do a silver coloured variant in the future similar to the Silver Surfer figure released which had a metallic paint. They're going for a more pearlescent look now to match the cartoon but still be shiny; but a metallic paint like Surfer Surfer could be an option in the future; just not now. Vac Metal would work in ReAction, and that will very likely be used for those SilverHawks figures.

I really do wish that you could hear our conversations (and no, there won't be any recordings made just yet), Brian is extremely passionate about everything we talk about. Perhaps my fanboy eagerness comes across as overpowering in the interview. Can you blame me though? It's a pleasure talking to him every time. I know the brand is in safe hands with them.

Ah so a silver, non vac metal variant. I'm sure customizers willl go wild with these things in the mean time. I think a pearlescent look is preferable anyway but I know a lot of people would want the metal look.

So Thundercats is the compromised line due to being thrown in with MOTU, they need to ditch that and do what they say they are doing with Silverhawks. Who would complain? "Hey, we ant to make figures more accurate to the show."

I've seen Brian talk at length about many franchises and there is a world of difference in how he speaks about Thundercats and say, something like Godzilla, or Disney's Robin Hood. He talks about making deep cut characters eraly because he loves them, describes scenes and talks about being a kid and wanting these things. Not saying that there isn't a guy at Super 7 who thinks about Thundercats that way, but if there is I'd like to see him interviewed some time.

I think the Ultimates! Thundercats is very similar on how the MOTU Classics is approached (Classicized), it so happen that unlike MOTU which is a more popular IP that has a lot of media for it, the Thundercats has only few, in which the cartoon is the biggest influence but not solely the influence. While Ultimates! Silverhawks is clear on that it will be based on the the cartoon aesthetic, much like Ultimates! TMNT is based on the aesthetic of the OG toys.

Keep in mind that the Thundercats, like MOTUC, is only adopted by Super 7 and becomes a continuation of what was started by Mattel back then. The Silverhawks and TMNT and the other Ultimates! lines have Super 7 approach from the get go (while acknowledging that the line is still inspired by MOTU Classics).

Matty wanted to appeal to the MOTU fans an cheap out on parts where possible. Super7 took over the line years later and were not beholden to what Matty had started other than the initial tooling for those first figures. We have seen more and more unique sculpts for the upcoming waves, I say they ditch the MOTU thing all together. If a brand as small as Silverhawks gets this treatment, Thundercats surely deserves it. Lets not forget that these figures all these ultimates cost the same and it sucks that the only ones I care about have this muddled aesthetic.
