Jerry seemed ready to answer questions on the spot a few posts back, but that was almost 3 weeks ago now.
Any update on this Grizzlor?

quick tidbit from a recent post from Jerry over at a statue collecting forum:
Quick pic of Lion-O next to Shin Akuma for scale.
The Street Fighter statues are slightly smaller than 1/4 scale and Lion-O is slightly larger (he will still shrink about 4% in production).
From bottom of base to tip of sword is going to be ~34 inches.

Nice pic but i am waiting for the painted final version, also i am curious to see how the real fabric clothe will fit to Lion-o.
Could we have an estimated release date for this statue?

While we wait on Jerry's replies, thought I'd share images of the M. Bison that Pop Culture Shock just released pictures of. The closeup picture below will give you an idea of how the fabric is incorporated into the statue...

Thanks Grizz, i just saw the pictures. The real fabric clothe suits perfectly on Bison,i hope the same goes for Lion-o.
Merged Post:
I've been reading some new posts at the Statue Forum site concerning the Lion-o statue and here are a few updates straight from Jerry:
1) The statue will be up for pre-order in August.
2)The statue will be at SDCC for display at the Sideshow booth!
3) It is currently being painted and here is a pic of him.
Look closely at the sword and how impressive it looks:thumbsup:
Man, I wish i could go to SDCC just to catch a glimpse of Lion-o:lionomad:

Jerry,
Thanks for sharing the image of the painted Lion-O statue and for taking the time to answer so many questions.
I noticed you alluded to some other properties that you're hoping to work on and I understand that you've had a meeting with Mattel about He-Man / She-Ra.
WOW. I would LOVE to see you tackle my other favourite 80s show!
Looking forward to seeing the teasers of Cheetara and whoever else you're working on.
Cheers,
Mark

Jerry, just wanted to say thanks so much for stopping by our forums and for taking the time to speak with all of us fans - it's fantastic to see! :)
I certainly hope that Mattel recognise the potential for MOTU statues / busts such as those that you produce. Right now MOTU Classics is one of the most sought-after toylines out there, so I reckon a company such as yours would be perfectly placed to capitalise on that further - plus, a lot of fans of the 2002 MOTU relaunch are unhappy with the lack of 2002 stylings in the MOTU Classics toyline, so if you were able to incorporate those stylings into a line of statues, I think that would be another way you guys could capitalise on the MOTU market! :)
Keep up the great work, and thanks again for dropping by! :)
EDIT: And just to add, the contest giveaway of a Lion-O would be an amazingly generous gesture - thanks so much for thinking of the fan community in this way! :)
Take care... :)

Still not a fan of the fangs, but overall the painted version looks great. The blue fabric color looks more dark than I imagined though.
As Jerry mentioned, this line is not meant to be a large scale version of Hard Hero statues. It's a different beast altogether. So even though all the original features of the characters may not be depicted on the statues as they appeared in the series, it will still manage to echo the look and feel of the characters while being unique in their designs.
Jerry, thanks for participating in the forum discussion. And we all really appreciate your enthusiasm and massive undertaking to bring such high quality ThunderCats products for fans to relish .

Great interview! Call me a purist then but this is not to my taste. I'm glad this is not a line I want to collect especially due to price and scale. I'll take a look at it whenever/wherever but I def won't long for it. The Sword of Omens looks awesome but this to me is just not Lion-O

First of all, Grizzlor thank you very much for such a revealing Interview and for including my questions as well as those of the other members in the Forum. Jerry, your concern is much appreciated and thank you too for taking the time to answer painstakingly our burning issues.
I've always considered sculpting as an art form similar to drawing or painting. You don't simply recreate impassively an image or picture but you try to infuse personal elements in your scuplture out of artistic liberty and passion for your work. Besides, this is what art is all about and differs from other mass market-oriented mediums. I was much delighted to hear Jerry's enthusiasm for Thundercats by the time he was 17 years old and the way he strived many time in the past to acquire the rights by WB for the line. Sometimes, the best recipe for success is the pure love for your task, then the rest follow effortlessly. This is why i am very happy that after 25 years, the 2 main sculptors who have been seriously involved in the revival of the franchise are talented people with an artistic temperament and ardour for sculpting Thundercats from a different perspective each one. Paul Bennett's style is much closer to the original episodes and not merely because of the selected poses, whereas McGuiness Lion-o version is akin to McGuinness comic drawings. None of them however is an 100% faithful reproduction of the show. I actually like that, since the diversity is giving an aestheric quality, unique to each presentation.
We can't compare which one is better or worse. Some purists(maybe myself included) could argue that Pop Culture's Shock Lion-o has an even darker body than HH's dark-brown "fur" Lion-o which caused negative critisicm back in January. Moreover. if HH's Lion-o face was regarded as an angry countenance then judging by the recent picture, this one has 10 times more furious expression, ready to jump at you. Also, Lion-o's wavy hair make Frank Frazzeta's Conan long black hair look like bob cut! STILL, there is a peerless beauty we've never seen before attributed to Lion-o's appearance. I accept the statue as it is and i belive it's going to have a special place in anyone's collection and not only owing to its massive size.
It does credit to Jerry saying he always tries to listen to what the fans expect from him, however i don't need to comment on the fangs, personally i like them just as i approved HH's Lion-o roaring mouth. Jerry seems a genuine Thundercats fan and i trust his sense of responsibility on handling the Thundercats characters.
