We should all start a twitter trend to Jakks pacific aka @JAKKStoys regarding them hopefully buying the ThunderCats toy license!
I thought with enough trends this could be the start of something good for us fans! ;)

I must admit Jakks would not be my first choice, even with the LJN connection.....but I doubt any company could do as bad a job as Bandai did.

Bandai
I dont fully agree that bandai did a bad job with the classic figures. I believe they should have been smart in distributing the quantity of figures. Too many classic lion o and tygra figures whereas they should have released them in limited quantities.
Bottom line is we are not in 80(s) or 90(s) anymore thus kids have more to do now and interest in action figures is not much.

I disagree, Dr Who, WWE, Power Rangers, TMNT, Star Wars and other figures are still selling very well.
The Classics were the best of a bad bunch, but they had their faults. The inaccurate sculpts, unpainted joints, mismatched plastic and super soft swords.
Then the 6" Classics were even worse than the 8".

Tmnt
Dont really know about Dr. Who but collectors even complain about existing TMNT figures. However, from supply prospective even the new TMNT line has had its up and down.
My take is bandai thundercats were good enough to have existed. I believe SWORD of Omens was nice. I dont view them from collector prospective and i believe neither 4-8 year old kid will care much about soft swords etc. 6 inch Tygra, Panthro and Cheetars were nice too.
There could be more to it then we know like licensing costs etc.

Yes the new TMNT figures have their issues being 'cost effective', but Playmates did what was important and made them fun for kids.
Bandai should have put all their efforts into making one good line like the modern 6".....instead they were all full of faults.
It's not just a matter of kids though, like TMNT, G.I. Joe, Transformers a good lot of their sales come from adult collectors and Bandai should have been more aware of that.

Motu
Going off topic a little but how much of a classic figure quantity on an average is Mattel producing for its MOTUC line.
The subscription model by mattycollector is success and if bandai would have followed something similar to that then perhaps classic line would have had a future. But again the cost of thundercats line could have provoked different thinking.
The only way i forsee Thundercats Classic figures being made is through subscription.

I agree, if it had been done like MOTUC it would have done better.
I would be all for almost any company making Thundercats Classics on a subscription basis. :)

Thundercats Classic Line
At this point if someone just reproduces the same LJN figures i will take that even. Like Mattel did with MOTU backs in early 2000(s).
How difficult it will be to create the same thing?

I would love that. They could even do repaints/alterations of figures to expand the line or make new figures in the same vintage style. :liono

I would love it if they would manufacture with the vintage LJN molds and expand in the same style with never produced characters! It would probably drive me to poverty.

I'd love to see those unproduced LJN ThunderCats figures get manufactured actually.

Whoever is affiliated with LJN could package the card with the old logo on the side, sorta like Hasbro is doing Star Wars vintage collection (Kenner).
On a side note, I already tweeted Jakks Pacific concerning thunder cats, maybe if we get more people to join we can start movement!

I wonder if they still own the original moulds.

Likely since LJN was brought out by Acclaim which later sold to "THQ" which Jack Friedman owns but left to help find "Jakks Pacific" which solely focus on toys.,

Chances are the molds don't even exist anymore. I think I remember when they reissued the MOTU figures they had to make new molds from old figures.

OK then they can make new molds from old figures, I'm sure some employees from LJN have prototypes from the original line (saw one guy on "Toy Hunter" he had all the rare Tcats pieces). Those could be used if given the green light by a toy company IMO
