Hard Hero Mumm-Ra delay deliberate??

Could the delay of Hard Hero's Mumm-Ra have something to do with the other Mumm-Ra's coming later this year? Icon Heroes has a Mumm-Ra the Ever Living Staction, Sideshow has the Mumm-Ra the Ever Living Premium... Do you think Hard Hero has delayed their Mumm-Ra to be able to better compete with the other companies? Just a thought...

Doubt it. Mumm-Ra was originally supposed to be released in the 3rd quarter of last year (July-September timeframe). I seriously doubt they would purposely delay him this long. Releasing him a year before anyone else would have made much more sense than waiting to release with the competition.

I'm kinda worried about HH. I emailed them a few times and heard nothing from them. They've gone quiet for a while now.

I believe they only have a few people answering e-mails. I recently had a paint issue with my Tygra piece. I was impressed with the quick e-mail reply and prompt service. Tanya who also sends the shipping notifications handled my concern. The statue came back immaculate. Maybe they just ignore e-mails they can't or are not allowed to answer.

I think i read somewhere (statueforums most likely) that they're having problems with the red paint which in turn is causing the delay. Something about keeping the red paint color consistent .

Yea, that would be a relief. Ignore me fine, just tell me the statues are still being produced.

Hope we see something from them at SDCC! Would love to see new shots of MummRa and perhaps a sneak peak at Panthro and the Kittens!

I sent an E-mail, will let y'all know if/when I hear back.

Well, if Sideshow is releasing a premium Mumm-Ra and Icon Heroes a staction as well as a SDCC ex. what is the smartest thing to do? Release a Tygra statue? (I think more people want a Mumm-Ra then a Tygra..) I would try to compete with those guys, and Hard Hero has a "mummy" Mumm-Ra with Ma-Mutt!

But releasing a Mumm-Ra at the same time as 2 other companies release their Mumm-Ra statues puts you toe to toe with the competition. To get yours to sell, you'd have to convince the prospective customers that your statue is the best option. They could run into the problem of people liking the other style(s) better and getting them instead. And that could be tough with a super-sized Mumm-Ra with lightup Sword of Plun-Darr, and a much cheaper action figure sized statue to compete directly against.

But if their Mumm-Ra would have come out 6 months ago, they would have had the only Mumm-Ra statue in the market at the time. Then anyone who really wants a Mumm-Ra statue a lot has to choose between getting the only one out at the time or waiting for a different one.

I could be wrong, but I just can't see the delay being intentional considering the risk of over saturating the marketplace with Mumm-Ra statues all at once.

I honestly believe that the production of this piece may be facing serious problems.
But that's my opinion.
I respect the opnions of everyone, however I don't think the fact that there are statues of the same character in the market is the cause of this delay.
This statue is very late, I have never seen such a delay in other producers.
Think, when the statue was placed in pre-order there were no competitors in the market, if it had been delivered on time this would not have occurred.
It would be easy to know what is happening, I think we deserve an explanation, however, Mr.Potts does not answer our questions.
Why not?
This did not stop him of participating of other discussions in the Statue Marvels Forum, do you know that?
His last post was on July 5th.
What about that?

I started the collection recently, and I am a bit worried too. I love their statues, and I just hope they'll keep up the good job !

Has anyone heard anything more about HH mumm-ra? Im thinking of starting this collection as the statues are awesome but im still 50/50 over price concerns. Anyhow that mumm-ra was meant to be released in the 3rd quarter of last year, i wonder what the heck is going on with it.

Hello everybody.
There is some news about the Hard Hero Mumm-ra?
#14
I had E-mailed Hard Hero weeks ago. I've yet to get a response...

I believe that this statue is about a year late.
I sent a message to Hard Hero and still no answer.
How is this possible?
A year and nothing so far ...

To recap on how we got here, some with approximate timeframes....

Lion-O was released January 2010.

Cheetara was listed as a Q2 2010 release.

Mumm-Ra was listed as a Q3 2010 release.

Chinese New Year caused delays on Cheetara in the factory (no workers working for several weeks, caused massive delays)

Ben-Gali was listed as a August/September release.

Tygra was listed (in September 2010) as a TBD release, making 4 statues up for pre-order with Cheetara, Mumm-Ra, and Ben-Gali already behind schedule.

Cheetara was released in September 2010.

Mumm-Ra was bumped back for unknown reasons, rumored to be production issues possibly due to the paint.

Ben-Gali was released in January 2011.

Rob Potts posted in January 2011 that Mumm-Ra was delayed, Tygra was in production, Panthro and Slithe sculpts were in progress, and that Jaga would follow them.

Tygra was released in April 2011.

No news or changes since. Basically, the original schedule appeared to be 1 statue every 3 months or so. Cheetara was delayed about 5 months. But once Cheetara shipped, Ben-Gali followed about 3 months later, and Tygra about 3 months after that. Had that pattern continued, Mumm-Ra should have been released either last month or this month.

Usually, there is a notice that a statue is "on the water" about a month before it is released. The general time taken is about 2 weeks to float across the ocean, then about 2 weeks more to get from the docks to Hard Hero's warehouse to be shipped to individuals.

I would not be worried yet based on the pattern of release for the last 3 statues. However, myself and others have tried E-mailing Hard Hero recently and no one has gotten a response.

I sure hope he's coming this fall. I've been waiting longer for this statue than PCS Lion-o which I should have Monday!

I periodically check the sculptors blog and came to the realization that we've almost been waiting two years!!!

Mumm-Ra The Decayed Form"

Maybe they're aging the statue?

I asked Paul Bennett the artist that scuplts the statues. Here's our conversation;

aewsmith:
Hi

Will you be making any more thundercats statues for hardhero anytime soon? I've collected all the ones so far and am eager to know whats next!! Thanks!

Paul:

Me too! Well my lips are sealed on this particular subject. I suggest directing your question to Hard Hero. I'm sorry I couldn't be more helpful to you.

Still not sure if this is good, ok, or bad news..but it was nice that he replied.

I say that is a glimmer of hope. Had something majorly bad happened where the line was terminated, he probably would be free to say so. If his "lips are sealed" it sounds like he is still under contract or whatever the exact case would be...

I think pretty ethic from Paul Bennett to do this kind of comment, because independently on the current situation of the line, as an artist he might be following a professional contract.
Anyway, I don’t think is nice what Hard Hero has been doing and we’ve been avoided. And is this is happening, there might be something wrong going on.
A few months ago Mr. Potts participated in the discussions of the Statue Marvels forum, on a HULK statue that is currently under development by Bowen Designs.
And that makes me think: “If he can find time to participate in other forum, why can’t he respond us?”. We did not receive any response to our questions, right ?
I know that I don’t have the right to be hard on him and demand an answer…who am I in the end ?
I’m just a collector from a very far Country, who bought his pieces and tried to support this line somehow
I just think as collectors or as enthusiastic from his work, we should at least have received some answer…a minimum of attention…
In this case all those speculations would be unnecessary !
It would take just an answer, an estimation and all the emails and debates around this would stop !!
I’m a collector from a long time now and I’m always impressed with this kind of treatment
I have many positive examples from other Companies, like Bowen Design…
As a producer Randy Bowen is daily in contact with his fans and collectors, providing the latest status of the execution and production of his pieces, or just to know what are the collectors thinking and whishing from his work
I think is brilliant, he attracts attention to his company and as well delivers exactly what the collectors really want
That explains very well why Marvel franchise is currently on his hands
The Thundercats figures so far have been just amazing
But honestly, these delays make me think of what is really behind this, on what should we expect in the future of this line. Of course, besides disappointing me…
It is not by the quality of the pieces, but for the way the collectors have been treated…the lack of transparency…
Not taking into consideration the new figures been produced, I would be happy enough with my Mumm-ra being delivered
Do you really believe that a new figure will “see the light of the day” ?
It’s been more than a year since Tygra was shown in the Comic Con of 2010 and it was launched
After all, I put a pre-order to Mumm-ra and in a certain way I paid a fraction of its price and I committed to pay the rest once delivered
Well...I think that’s all ! This resumes the way that I feel about it…
