Kinetiquettes ThunderCats Dioramas

Kinetiquettes arrived on the collectibles scene in the early 2010s with a run of dynamic, high-octane Street Fighter dioramas, and the studio chooses brands its principals are personal fans of. ThunderCats was the natural next license, and in early 2015 the team secured the Warner Bros. rights for a line of statues based on the classic 1985 designs.

The pitch set Kinetiquettes apart from every prior ThunderCats statue effort. Rather than single standing figures, each product is a one-versus-one battle scene with two statues, and every release connects physically to the next. Assemble the full line and the individual dioramas combine into one continuous team battle staged in and around Mumm-Ra’s crypt and evil spirit pool. The opening pairings were Lion-O against Mumm-Ra and Panthro against S-s-slithe.

Lion-O began life as a modernized 2011 and classic amalgam, but after gauging fan feedback through the ThunderCats.org forums, Kinetiquettes reset the default look to the classic cartoon design with the modern variant offered as an option. The flagship Lion-O vs Mumm-Ra diorama reached production at 1/5 scale with LED light-up features, diecast metal swords and chains, and an edition capped at 250 pieces. As with several ambitious ThunderCats statue programs before it, the line struggled to hit the pre-order minimums needed to sustain a full character roster.

Pieces in this line

  • Lion-O vs Mumm-Ra Diorama (1/5 scale, limited to 250)
  • Lion-O (single-character development sculpt)
