I don’t know about you all, but I just received a shipping confirmation from Super7 for my Wave 1 pre-order! I figured I’d start a thread for us to share our thoughts and answer each other’s questions once we have the figures in hand.

Different retailers will probably be shipping at different times, so be sure to mention who you placed the order with to help set expectations for other fans.

Got that today as well. I suspect it will be a long gap between this notification, and actual shipping but it got me excited. I'd better start clearing display space.
#3
Whoops! Turns out the notifications were a mistake—nothing has shipped yet. Super7 just sent a follow-up email:
Incorrect email alerts were accidentally triggered this morning saying that your Super7 pre-order(s) have shipped to you.

NO ORDERS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED YET OR SHIPPED.

The good news is we are continuing to work hard on making the perfect products and we will be sharing updates and behind the scenes info about these releases with you in the near future. All current pre-orders continue to be on schedule for shipping as previously indicated.

Bummer. It did feel awfully premature, in retrospect! I’m going to lock this thread for now, and reopen it when orders are actually shipping.

Reopening this thread, as Wave 1 will be shipping soon. Let's keep speculation in other threads, though—this thread is for commentary on figures in hand.

I just found out that my figures will be with me in August. The seller has an arrangement that Mythic Legions figures are sent to them direct from the factory, Super7 asked for a ridiculously high quota to do the same and as a result the seller had to pass. So my figures will be taking a round trip to the US before being received by my seller here in China and sent to me.

I got my wave 1 ThunderCats Ultimates today!

The packaging is very nice.

As a big fan of the Mattel versions, these re-releases aren't as exciting as wave 2 will be, but it was fun getting ThunderCats in the mail again.

Mumm-Ra is my favorite of the bunch and probably the only one that will truly replace my Mattel versions. I like his brighter cape which pops a bit more.

Ultimates Lion-O, Panthro, and Jackalman all look decent, but I prefer the faces on the Mattel versions a little bit better. They're definitely worth picking up if you missed out on the Mattel releases or are looking for more accessories/looks.

I have no complaints on the figures themselves quality wise, all of them feel sturdy with no splotches; this bodes well for the future of the line. I like all the weapons and trinkets that come with these Ultimates, especially the guns that came with Jackalman and items with Panthro. Having the red spinning nunchuck was a nice touch to go with Mattel's blue.

To potentially bring down costs, I'd be fine without some of the extra hands and the open mouthed faces/heads. I've never been a fan of open mouthed faces/heads on most figures, they tend to look constipated and I don't remember most of these looks in the cartoon. I'm curious how many collectors like the open mouthed extra heads? The packaging seems excessive, but that's because I open my figures.

Overall, I am extremely excited and thankful that Super7 and the Four Horsemen are making these figures! The future is bright and having new characters will be so awesome! What a dream line this is!

Like the Matty version I anticipate all but the character's main weapon to remain in the box. I'd be happy ditching a bunch of the accessories for a cheaper price point. The extra heads I can see the value in some cases. Jaga needs two, he has two distinct looks in the show. Perhaps three if you count young Jaga, but no way was I crossing my fingers for a third slightly older "I can't go on" head. Anyway, one show accurate head per character would be fine for me and two where justifiable. I get these are Ultimates but they should be the ultimate in terms of show accuracy and not just how much stuff is in the box.

Extra accessories allow for more display options especially when displaying multiple figures together. This leads to more appeal for the line as a whole and more and more lines are moving in this direction. Companies have finally realized that figures that display together well help each other sell. Seems like a no brainer but they have only really begun to start maximizing this feature.

Couldn’t agree more.

Extra stuff can give more posing possibilities I grant you, but when reviewers are struggling to identify items maybe some restraint could be used. Instead of asking what would a fan really want and costing after the fact, it feels like they decided on $45 a figure and then tried to work out how much stuff they can throw in to justify that price. I think anyone would agree that the Mattel figures came with plenty of stuff and their price point was much more reasonable. The first four waves of S7 figures will cost what would have bought seven Mattel waves with change left to spare.

I suspect that Mattel was (and is) in a better position to negotiate production costs with factories, given the scale at which they operate and the amount of business they do, and therefore their pricing was more a function of economics than anything. It may not be that Super7 chose $45, creating accessories to meet a price point, so much as $45 is as low as they can go to satisfy their margins and deliver the figure we expect, given production costs, and so adding accessories that marginally cost very little is one way to justify the price to collectors.

But I honestly have no idea, and reality is probably somewhere in between. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I received my Wave 1! Impressive figures overall, nothing all that new for me though as I have had the Matty versions for some time. I think I like the Matty ones better overall though there are some cool improvements and extras with the Super7 figures. The packaging is particularly nice.

I agree with other comments here regarding the accessories and price point. I too would take less accessories if it makes the figures more affordable. There's a lot of stuff included with these figures that I have no particular desire to use or display.

I'm thankful we are getting new Thundercats figures. I think Super7 is pretty good about listening to fans so hopefully they will take some of the criticisms voiced about the first wave as constructive and make some improvements for future waves. Pumped for Wave 2!

Got my wave one Thundercats from BBTS today.

I have to say aside of the lack of paint On :jackalman Neck and :panthro shorts being wrong color these turned out fantastic.
Also Glad Super7 is making up for Mattel Factories Mistake by offering fans a special pack with correct Panthro Shorts and Jakleman's painted neck & accessories along with the new Thundercats call Panthro head with glowing yellow /orange eyes.

No paint slop on mine. Love the second heads, and Mumm-Ra's Soft Goods Cape.

Love the package style, It really pops and all the Accessories are a nice touch.

All in all I'm very happy. Bring on Wave two Super7 :mummra:mamutt:tygra

Got my set in recently and love them. Paint apps are better overall than the Mattel versions and I really like all the extra accessories. Of course I could get out a magnifying glass and pick out every minuscule flaw I can find, but I’m realistic and I like fun. This line is fun, I hope it runs for a long time so we can get to all the obscure and one off characters.

Got mine and LOVE THEM!!! To me they’re better than the Mattel ones because I prefer these colours. Despite the pants, guns and neck differences, they are still my favourites!!!
