Transferring the last of the old site content... :)

Hi gang,

Just to LYK I haven't forgotten there's still a TON of material that needs transferring from the old site - even though it doesn't look like it I am aware it needs doing and I'm being my best to get it done! :)

At the moment I'm finding things are getting on top of me, and I know some of you guys are really busy too, so I wanted to fire an idea past you to see what you think... :)

A while back, Angie told me to let her know if I needed a hand with any website projects I was involved in - she's been setting up her own web design business (albeit I think this has stalled a bit now) and I helped her troubleshoot a few bits and pieces, so she owes me a favour, plus she's generally happy to help me out when she can. I don't know whether you guys would have any serious objections to this or not, but I was wondering if you would allow me to enlist Angie's help to transfer some of the pages / content that still needs moving from the old site? :)

She wouldn't need FTP access to the site as it would simply be a case of linking to images that are already online, and a lot of it would be working to templates that I've built. All she'd need would be access to the WordPress side. :)

I've given this quite a bit of thought before broaching it to you guys - the only reason why I mention Angie is because a) she & I work well together, b) because she has a lot of web design knowledge, and c) because she's one of the few people from outside this team that I'd trust. :)

If you guys were happy with this idea, I could either let her log in with my username and password, or (my preference) create a unique log-in and password for her to use. :)

I would say I haven't said a word about this to Angie yet because I wanted to make sure you guys were cool with it first. I would also like to stress that I don't have any sort of "agenda" here - even though I freely confess I'd love to get Angie back on this team because I think she would have a lot to contribute, I don't think she would want to make the full-time commitment to it because of other pressures in her "offline" life. She may not even have the time to help me out here, which would render this whole post obsolete anyway, LOL! ;) But, as I say, she does owe me a couple of favours and did once offer to help, so I thought I'd run it past you guys for your thoughts - if you'd be OK with letting me ask her, you'd be potentially helping me get a ton of pressure off my back. :)

Take care... :)

Cool, thanks Neil - I'm trying to implement some things that will help me catch up a bit, I was feeling great up until I got sick again and then everything's been thrown behind, if I can get a bit more on top of my jobs I think I'll start to feel better! :)

Is it cool with everyone else if I ask Angie to give me a hand? :)

I definitely agree you should have Admin access to the WordPress - I've never given it to someone before, but I'll take a look and try to figure out how to do it, LOL! (MannyF, if you wanted to give me a quick tutorial on how to add a username and password for someone, and how to make someone an Admin, I'd embrace your knowledge with open arms!! :D)

Take care... :)

There should be a button on the left side of the dashboard titled "Users." You should be able to edit Neil's profile and upgrade him to admin privileges. You should also be able to create a new profile for Angie if you decide to do so.

The different "roles" gives users access to different functions.

The only concern I have with giving Angie access to your own WP login is that she will have all the functions of an admin. I don't really think I have a say in it, but just something to consider :)

Of course you do!:confused: I'm starting to worry how much your distancing yourself from us again Manny....:(

That said, if Angie accepts, then she will need her own log in/profile ;) Nobody should EVER share their Wordpress account with anyone! Even fellow Team members.

Awesome, thanks Manny!

You definitely do have a say in it because you're a member of the team! ;)

I did say in my original post that my preference would be to give Angie her own log-in, password, etc., I just mentioned letting her use mine if you guys would have preferred not to let her have permanent access...I could have let her log in with mine and then changed my password after she'd finished! ;)

But yeah, it would be a lot less hassle to let her have her own log-in and password. As I say, all of this becomes academic if she says no she can't help, LOL! Hopefully she'll be able to give me a hand with some stuff, though. :)

Take care... :)

Just an update on this - with apologies for the delay, Neil, you are now a WordPress Admin, my friend!

I haven't approached Angie about inputting any content yet, but have sent her an e-mail asking her if she happens to have saved a few bits and pieces for the Episode Guide that would make my life easier - if I give her access to the WordPress, I'll make sure to post up in here so you guys know what's going on. :)

Thanks again, everyone! :)

Take care... :)
