In the recent interview with Brian he hinted at something big being revealed soon. Then S7 posted a cartoon clip of the tank on social media. Thoughts?

I think Brian should deliver on what is currently announced so we can see the quality of completely new figures before they do anything else.
#3
I want this more than anything, but at the same time I agree - we need to make sure we get consistently good figures. They have next to no issues with their ReAction line, they need to get the Ultimates line on the same level.

As cool as a 6/7" scale cartoon accurate Thundertank would be....with Super 7's production history of quality control, I don't know if people would be that keen on backing a Thundertank.
Yes they made Snake Mountain and it was big that was pretty much all it has going for it is size. It lacks all the real fun play features of the original. A trap door that doesn't work that great, a dungeon that can't hold one figure and a throne that Skeletor cannot properly sit in. Other than that it's a fancy painted hollw plastic shell that cost over $600.
Is that really the company you want to produce a Thundertank to hold at least six features with complicated working action features?
If the price of Snake Mountain is anything to go by a Thundertank would cost $600-$1000. Unless they just make it a hollw shell just for display purposes and not an actual working toy.
Between now and when the announce it they would really need to drastically improve their quality control on much much less complicated toys and getting their products delivered to their customers instead of 1-2 yeras after the pre-order.

I personally can't wait to see a potential Ultimates Thundertank! I never had one as a kid so it'd be a dream come true.

Sure, it'd be nice to have wave 2 by now, but take a look at Stridor and Snake Mountain. Super7 can deliver big items. It'll probably be 1 1/2 years before we realistically get it, so I'd rather get it set up now.

Fingers crossed we see it revealed soon.

I look forward to a Ultimates Thundertank being made. My only issue would be the cost. I cant imagine it costing the same as Snake Mountain but even at half the price of a Snake Mountain, i wouldnt be able to justify the cost. Id rather use the money to buy more waves of figures.

Hold on - you're comparing a full-blown playset to a small 2 man vehicle? And you think it will be $600-$1000 for a frickin' Thundertank! Please don't give Bryan Flynn and Super7 any more ideas, they might actually believe you! They price gouge, but if a Thundertank is anymore than $100-$125 it's not going to sell well. Adult Collectibles have become ridiculously overpriced, essentially because of our niche. Kids don't buy toys anymore, so big time companies don't have the bankroll to do the big production runs on stuff like a Thundertank for "collectors". Then the smaller companies come in, tell us all the great things and hike prices 500% because of the lower production numbers. I guess it makes sense, but I hate it. It's basically the "I know you have money, so I'm charging you more" routine. Again, I can't imagine a Thundertank being over $125, the would be ludicrous otherwise.

Since when was the Thunder Tank a 2 man vehicle? A show accurate tank would be able to fit the core team in it, making it huge.

True, I was going off the original LJN one. It seems like it wouldn't be too much more design/material to size it up and make it fit more figures in it. I honestly can't remember the crew count inside there. I always took it to be the show equivalent of say the Ecto-1 or Turtle Van, not something monstrous.

The tank is massive in the show compared to the LJN toy. Look at these pic from the show:

If S7 make one it would be along the lines of this fan creation, and this even looks a bit small to be show scale. Definitely something they'll charge a mint for:

As @Booshman has said I was making my estimate based on them making a cartoon accurate Thundertank able to hold the full crew, 2 drivers and 4-6 in the back.
A LJN one that only holds 2 figures would be substantially less, but I still think it would be at least around £200-£300.
When Super 7 charge $50 for one figure there is no way they would do a 2 figure vehicle for $125.

Fine points, I see what you meant now. I definitely think Super7 have rip-off prices and just stuff each figure with small accessories that make it "feel" more worth it. They are hardcore gouging collectors for figures that should cost $25-$30. Still, I think they could do some kind of size compromise on the tank. I've seen other shots where it looks smaller in the cartoon and had 4 people in there plus Snarf in the middle. It seems like the thing was inconsistently scaled in the cartoon. I can see why people would want it to be full size though since I doubt Super7 would ever spring for a full-blown Cat's Lair. Unlike MOTU or Star Wars, I'm not sure the fandom is as large to fund something that would be so expensive. I can't even imagine how much they'd charge for it if Snake Mountain was $700.

Yeah their prices are a rip off. Don't me wrong I can afford the prices. But I don't think they are good value compared to similar products on the market.
As for the Thundertank it has always been shown to hold 2 drivers in the front. The back differs sometimes its shown to have the cannon but even with the cannon it should still be able to hold a 2-4 figures in the back.
As I have said before though Snake Mountain was basically a glorigied hollow shell. Cat's Lair and the Thundertank would be a lot more complex, especially the Thundertank.

This is exactly why when Brian first start teasing this in a Pixel Dan interview, I immediately shot him a DM advocating for a theoretical tank to be at ReAction scale so it could fit the figures like the show without being massive (and likely not functional) and costly like Snake Mountain. This isn't unreasonable to ask. The ReAction line is just the old SW form factor, right? Vehicles exist for that scale, obviously. I specifically am remembering I had the land speeder or whatever that thing was called that Ben and Luke rode around in. He ignored me but I may try again.

And Good Lord yes everything is ridiculously overpriced now. I saw a listing for that icon heroes thundertank, which is basically a small soapstone statue, going for $400. Some old RC tanks sold in the same range. My expectation is S7 will put a tank in the 300-400 range, they absolutely dgaf about everyday collectors, they want these things rare and out of reach. Hm, now I'm wondering if S7 has considered two tanks, one at ReAction scale and one at Ultimates scale. Ugh, my bank account! I better get my OnlyFans up and running.

I would rather pay top dollar for a cats lair instead of a thundertank. I don't even think I wound pay $125 for a thundertank, I would rather have more figures instead. There were way better vehicles than the tank too, what about the Feliner or the Fistpounder?

:tygra:

better is always going to be subjective*, but no vehicle is more iconic than the tank.

* - but choosing the fist pounder is mutant rhetoric andddd sus af

I for one am excited at the prospect of potentially owning one if they do make it. Brian did say if they were to make it that it should be done properly so here’s hoping for a proper 2-seater.
I would comment though that calling them a rip-off is not a nice thing to say. If you feel they are overpriced that is fair enough. Everyone has their own frame of reference. Sure I wish these figures were a bit cheaper but I’m happy to pay it as it carries enough value to me personally.
On the matter of SM: I own one and it is the crown jewel in my collection. Sure it has some problems but they don’t bug me. If you think it is a hollow shell, sure, it probably is but to me it is a shell I can fill up with figures and make my own display. Cats Lair will also be a hollow shell if they mirror the vintage one. I don’t mind. Me needs it... and a tank to park in front

The opinions in this thread are really interesting to see, complete opposite ends of the argument. I have all of the coming waves on pre-order but I find I'm more drawn to the "Super7 are taking the piss with their pricing" side of things than the "I'll buy whatever you put out no matter the price" side. Has Brian ever been asked why these new waves are so much more expensive than the Matty figures were and offerings from other companies are? Forgive me if I missed it in one of the interviews. Also as a side note, looking at the offerings for TMNT right now they are spoiled for choice, such a shame we Thundercats fans don't have these options.

This is what Super7 sell for $20.

This is what Hasbro put out for $20 and $25. :biggrin

Hasbro is also much, much larger and TransFormers is also much, much larger. TF has only had a 2 year hiatus ever in the US. It's just not the same numbers of production at all.

This is not to say I think S7 has good prices, they clearly don't. That's why their product must be exceptional. If you are charging more, you have to be up to the task of making exceptional product.
