I just looked into Amazon and it looks like you can incorporate all the toys and DVDs into a store. This has all the toys that have been released so far and makes it easier to use for those who are looking at getting things quick.

Here is what i did and it could be implemented into the front page or forums via the existing banner:

Chris here...

I love this - well done MannyC!! :thumbsup:

I knew that it was possible to do this because MannyF has done it for ThunderCatsNOW, but had no idea how one went about it - well done MannyC for doing such a great job! :)

Take care... :)

My only problem is, it seems a little restrictive that it will only allow shoppers to buy ThunderCats items... :( What if a guy wants to pick up some ThunderCats toys and a book for his wife in the same transaction? You could lose potential non related item sales with this! When folks ordered the ThunderCats book, the odd couple of folks ordered other non related items too!

However it looks great! How would we incorporate this into the site?

I do agree with the restrictive issue. It could be placed as a link on the main page where the other links on the nav bar are.

Here is a run down on how it could be done...obviously I would be providing the appropriate link. Im not sure how to do the actual embed to the main site but maybe this is worth looking at

Embed [B]your aStore using an inline frame [/B]

An http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/present/frames.html#h-16.5"" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">inline frame is a great way to embed your aStore into any existing or new page on your Web site. This method of embedding your aStore will appear to your visitors as if the aStore is part of your site and enable them to shop without leaving your site.

[LIST=1]
[*]Create a new page or select the existing page on your site into which you would like to embed your aStore.
[*]Select Embed your aStore using an inline frame in the above Get Link form.
[*]Click the Highlight HTML button and copy the selected code.
[*]Then paste the code into the HTML of the page you selected in step 2.
[*]Add a "Store" link to your site's main navigation that links to the page containing your aStore.
[/LIST]
Integrate [B]your aStore using a frameset [/B]

Frame your aStore into your Web site using a http://www.w3.org/TR/html4/present/frames.html"" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">frameset by placing your aStore in one frame and your Web site's navigation in another frame. This method of embedding your aStore will also appear to your visitors as if the aStore is part of your Web site and enable them to shop without leaving your site.

[LIST=1]
[*]Select Integrate your aStore using a frameset in the above form to view sample frameset code with you store's URL already placed into one of the frames.
[*]Create a new frameset page using the code sample provided above or any custom frameset that better fits the structure of your Web site.
[*]Place your site's navigation in one of the frames and your aStore URL in another frame.
[*]Add a "Store" link to your site's main navigation and link it to the new frameset you just created.
[/LIST]

Chris here...

My only question would be whether an inline frame would work with the WordPress HTML interface - otherwise I can definitely do it! :)

The header of this website I built is displayed using an inline frame:

http://www.gregharpermusic.com/home.html

The header you see is actually displaying on a separate page - specifically:

http://www.gregharpermusic.com/menu.html

So yep, it's purely a case of if WordPress will allow me to do it! :)

EDIT: Just tested it and yep, WordPress will allow me to incorporate iFrames! :thumbsup:

The sole issue would be whether the code requires any Javascript or suchlike to dynamically resize the iFrame to encompass everything that's being displayed - however, my own instinct is that this will work! :)

Shoot the code over to me MannyC and I'll see what I can do! :)

Take care... :)

Inline Frame code:

<iframe src="http://astore.amazon.com/thund-20" width="90%" height="4000" frameborder="0" scrolling="no"></iframe>

Frameset:

<frameset rows="80,*" border="0">
<frame src="INSERT_YOUR_PAGE_HERE" name="topFrame" frameborder="no" scrolling="no" noresize="noresize" />
<frame src="http://astore.amazon.com/thund-20" name="mainFrame" frameborder="no" />
</frameset>

Chris here...

OK, I've done a couple of things here, all of which I can undo or jiggle about if you guys would like anything changed! :)

First of all, here's the page with the store embedded into it:

http://www.thundercatslair.org/store/

If you check out the site, you'll also see I've added an "Amazon Store" button to the main navigation header of the site! :)

Let me know if all of this is OK, guys, and well done to MannyC for his excellent work here! :thumbsup:

Take care... :)

I like it!!!

Chris here...

Thanks MannyC! :)

One thing - is there a way you can set this up so that the store page defaults to the Toys rather than the Cartoon (DVDs, etc.)? :)

The reason I suggest this is because I think the sales we'd be likely to get from the toys would far outstrip what we'd currently get from the classic series DVDs - this will change once the new series starts coming out on DVD, but for the minute I think it would be great if the store page "landed" on the toys for sale. What do you think? :)

Take care... :)

Did it on a click of a few buttons.

Excellent work guys! It looks brilliant.

and when the new series DVD is up for pre-order we can now put a direct link for that on the front page, while still having links to the toys via the store set up!

Excellent work Manny! :)

Is it worth trumpeting on our front page / Facebook / Twitter that this site now has its own Amazon store? Let me know what you guys think! :)

I'd say lets go for it...people will buy the toys anyways and a lot of people rather do Amazon orders due to free shipping and fast service. I'd say go for it

It's funny you say that.... as I'm the first official (known) customer at this Amazon store ;)

I've basically cancelled the pre-order for the ThunderTank we had with BBTS and ordered it from Amazon.com $2 cheaper, plus Manny obviously gets the revenue from the sale! :D This will also get us another review up asap, as BBTS still haven't despatched anything yet! :(

I would have done this for the Classics figures, but while Tygra is $16.99, they are asking over $35 for Lion-O! :rolleyes: So I went with the ThunderTank. The BBTS credit of $120 should easily cover the figures and shipping now, with a few $'s likely left over.

I'll update the finances thread with this expenditure and remove the '$27.92' expenditure it would have been.

Oh Manny, look out for that sale for me will you? and confirm in a few days if it went through ok :)

Ill look for the sale...im not sure it can be tracked by date in speicific but im sure it could be done. As it stands we are making 6.5% per item purchased so its not so bad.

Some of the items are higher priced because they are from secondary dealers and not from Amazon. The prices from Amazon should be in line with BBTS and perhaps a bit lower

Yeah I think I just missed my chance as when I first viewed the store Lion-O was $16.99 as well. He must have just sold out of stock by Amazon themselves!

6.5% is great, as that's $1.95 and makes the Thundertank $28.04! (and with free shipping, which BBTS would have charged us for!) I'm glad I did this now! :thumbsup:

I also noticed Amazon didn't charge me sales tax... guess that's because of the UK billing address on my account (despite the shipping address being US based)? :confused:
