Here is a brief summary:
  • Wave 3: It sounds like Wave 3 is wrapping up production.
  • Glowing eyes alternate heads: Super 7 has discussed these, but some logistics with different factories
  • Wily Kit & Kat: Super 7 has had discussions on these.
  • Re-release of Lion-O & Panthro: Sword of Omens will have updated logo and correct color on Panthro's shorts
  • Wave 2: Expected summer release
  • Thundertank: Numbers looks good on pre-orders. Treads will be Polyurethane. No assembly required.
  • Snarf: Not included with the tank. Otherwise, very cryptic responses when asked about Snarf.
  • Wave 5: No comments other than we will know more once Thundertank is done for orders. Brian said Wave 5 is not far off.
  • Wave 6: Should come 4 months right after Wave 5.
  • Demand: It is up quite a bit from Wave 1.

Looks like we got some more information, but we need to wait a few months. I'm guessing once Wave 3 starts shipping from their warehouse, Wave 5 will drop. If Wave 3 is wrapping up, I'm just ballparking that it might ship in April and be in the Super 7 Warehouse in May. So probably not much more for a couple months.

I like the idea of the glowing heads.

You summed it up pretty well! While Brian didn’t say W3 will come on these dates, that is my thinking of it too. I guess it just depends on how the factories start up again that will influence the timing. Very excited about W3 tbh, perhaps more than W2.

Since these interviews always bring up other Ultimates lines like TMNT, MOTUC and Silverhawks etc it woudl be interesting to get some info on all the Ultimates lines.
It would be great to get some info on their upcomming Transformers Ultimates and NJPW etc.
It would also probably help get more onboard with the Ultimates line.

When does this stay-at-home con happen? I might make it the first con I ‘attend’ in decades. Also, sounds like the lines on the tank have been modified from what we see, and I’m so very curious to see what additional tweaks are happening.

I read the interview. I just wish the interviewer included whether or not Super7 had the rights to use the classic lettering for the SilverHawks logo, as the one they have is a fan creation of Gaugespace Graphix.

My speculation is that we will get Waves 5 & 6 this year, plus something extra like a two-pack. If they do that Holiday figure that got cancelled last year, I'd bet money its Red Lion-O. If you think about it, that was pretty much the only choice because it would have to be a variation of a mold already made from Mattel. Red Lion-O would have been an easy re-color of that mold, much like glow in the dark Mumm-Ra.

Is the logo used on the apparel not the correct version? I’m not familiar with it. Sometimes WB has certain demands as to what can and can’t be used. We’ll see. In terms of “the interviewer” not asking about it, that is a topic for later when we actually have some prototypes to talk about. Do bring it up again once they start talking about those then. We do want it to be correct, don’t we.

We think alike! I also suspect a Red Lion-O somewhere down the line. But then, we can now also get invisible Tygra, Spirit Jaga etc. Why not all of them!!!

The positive that I take from this is that we're hearing there is a high demand which proves what I already knew and what I've always said. Despite previously hearing that the demand wasn't high enough, I believed that it was a lie and just a way of previous toy companies trying to avoid blame for their failure. They didn't want to admit that they screwed the collectors after misleading them at the start. If there was no demand, they would never have bothered in the first place. The high demand also means the line can continue for a significant amount of time and not die before building an impressive collection. Despite the delays being a problem, it ain't stopping people from backing the line. That just shows how much people want Thundercats figures and that the fan base is big enough to keep the franchise alive. The lack of successful Thundercats toy lines in recent times has made people want this toyline more and generated more excitement for it. Many toylines are a rehash of what we've been getting for years but Thundercats isn't. Many characters that we will get haven't had a figure of them made since LJN.
Also, if the Thundercats Ultimates line is anywhere near comparable to TMNT Ultimates in sales then that proves my point once again. TMNT is a massive franchise and according to others, is supposed to sell better due to being a much bigger franchise than Thundercats. We've had way more toylines from TMNT, so the demand for Thundercats is bound to be high for a smaller franchise, due to a lack of toys in the past. The popularity and demand has always been high enough and is ever growing due to toy collectors wanting something different. Many will have collected toys from other franchises for years so there is bound to be an appetite to collect toys from a different one. It should not be underestimated how popular Thundercats actually was in the 80's. I think a Thundercats toyline is bound to appeal to a toy collector who remembers watching the show. It's popularity was solely based on the TV show and nothing else so that is a testament to how good the show was. I think some people underrate it. It's usually people who only have vague memories of it and didn't really pay attention or take enough interest. Perhaps some didn't see enough of it. It's better for people who actually know the premise. People who started from episode 1 tend to appreciate it more. With something like Thundercats, there was no other way of finding out the premise without watching the first episode. It didn't exist in any other form before it came on TV. For kids, it may have been confusing at times if they didn't know the premise and hadn't seen episode 1, particularly with the more interesting episodes because they would often refer back. I actually think it's the best kids' cartoon from the 80's. There are others from the 90's that impressed me massively but to me, it's definitely the best one from the 80's. I like others but I think Thundercats was the most interesting. I also think it had the best animation.

Thanks Sebastian. Even in 2011 I felt that Thundercats was overdue for a new toyline. With those character designs, I don't see how the action figures wouldn't appeal to a relatively large proportion of toy collectors or wouldn't make for a fun and exciting toyline. The LJN toyline was the first toyline I remember being really excited by, then Playmates TMNT, then it was 90's stuff after that.

All I can say is Super7 is doing what no other toy company with the Thundercats Lic has done and that is giving us the Complete core teams for our collections.
