Hey guys,

Massive thanks to MannyF, MannyC and Neil for a great team meeting! :)

Just to let those of you who couldn't make the meeting know that we've moved the relaunch ahead of schedule, and the current version of the site will be going offline within the next 12 hours! :)

We need to let our forum members know what's happening and so I'm wondering if someone with forum admin powers could do a post that will show up on all of the boards that comprise this forum, giving people a heads-up? :)

Maybe don't give too much away, but just say that exciting changes are happening to this site but it means we'll be offline for a short while whilst we set everything in motion! ;)

I'm mega-excited about everything that's happening and so proud and happy to be part of this amazing team - you guys are AWESOME!!

Take care... :)

Going out in a bit, but when I get back, my priority will be the site. We did a mock launch earlier today, and almost everything turned out well.

Hopefully we can get the new site fully operational by the weekend :)

Hey Manny, thanks for all the time you've spent on this, I'm loving working with you as always. Looking forward to seeing this beautiful new site hit the public information highway!

Re: the "site press release" you mentioned earlier, regarding the changeover of who's at the head of the site, please would it be possible for you to post up a draft of the framework of how you think this should read? I.e., should we be talking in the third person and quoting ourselves or how should it look? If you LMK and I can whip up the bits that need doing for the rest of it. :)

This relaunch is going to be awesome, I can feel it in my waters!

Take care... :)

I'm going to write it from my personal point of view, so more like an editorial :)

Hope that's okay. I've never been that great in writing formal pieces ;)

That's the perfect way of doing it, I think that will work amazingly well! :)

Take care... :)

Guys I've uploaded all the contents of the relaunch folder into the main directory and now I've noticed the site is password protected!!!! :(

I renamed index.php to index1.php, so at least the old front page is displaying.... I guess some of the files still think the content needs protecting from public view?

Maybe I shouldn't have volunteered to do the upload :(

Chris you should be able to make a board wide post...just check on the top right and it will say Admin...that will give you more options such as board wide announcements

Errors going on
#9
Guys when posting making a post it is taking you to an error page, I cant look at this from the backend and it nees to get fixed ASAP, otherwise people will get turned away by the errors.

This is the error page i get once i hit the submit reply button

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 10485760 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 71 bytes) in /home1/thunderc/public_html/forums/includes/functions_databuild.php on line 1336

I know!! it's because of uploading WordPress in the main directory. It's clashing with something. I could delete the uploaded files, but I'm worried I'll do more harm than good! :(

I've been up all night trying to work out why it's happened :(

Thank Jaga (or MannyF) this is fixed :) I was crapping myself with worry:(

I have started transferring the files to the root (main directory). Cross your fingers :)
#13
Im starting to see the new front page but the password protected pop up thing is coming up.

Yeah, i thought I had figured out a way to work on the new site without having to use the redirect, but I guess I was wrong.

So I redirected the main page to the forums.

I'm heading to bed right now. I'll be online again around 5:30PM UK time to create the splash and work on the broken links.

I'll be on Skype as well if anyone wants to keep me company :)

Good night/morning/afternoon! See you guys in little bit.

EDIT: Hey guys, I'm still awake. if I could request that you do not make any changes to the new site until I wake up in four hours, I'd appreciate it. I think i got almost everything working. I'm not sure if Chris is going in and manually changing the links or if I figured out a very nice solution to that problem.

In any case, I'll be online at 5:30PM UK time and I'll update you on the status then. Good night!

Chris here...

Wowsers, seems like a lot's happened since I hit the sack last night! :)

First of all, massive thanks to MannyF for everything you're doing here, my friend - we knew this wouldn't be easy, but your hard work and technical expertise have really made a big-time difference here, I wouldn't have had a clue how the hell to get out of this, so massive kudos to you, sir!

Big thanks also to Neil for pulling an "all-nighter" to keep an eye on the forums and everything that's been happening - looks like MannyC was around a lot of the time as well. You guys are all heroes!

No changing of the links from me, I've not accessed the new version of the site at all since we were online together on Skype yesterday - well done if you've found a clever solution to that problem, keep me posted if you need me to perform any link "de-bugging" in the pages I've put together! :)

You guys are awesome, thanks so much - looking forward to seeing this dream becoming a reality!

Take care... :)

EDIT:

Just to add that I made an executive decision and blew the whistle on the forums as to the new site coming up - Grune_The_Pillock actually kind-of spoiled the surprise and flagged this up on the General Discussion forum, and then when I saw TheFallen speculating that it was WB / Bandai trying to get our site yanked down, I decided it was easiest and best to quash this in one go and come clean about what we're doing. ;)

Sorry to take this decision without consulting you guys, I would have hoped to wait but after weighing up the options decided it was best (particularly given that America is only just waking up so may not get onto the forums until this evening), and also stops us being bombarded with messages / e-mails / threads about why the site isn't working if we have to iron out any more technical glitches... :)

Take care... :)

Chris can you copy the same message you did for the Board announcement as a new thread under the Board Announcement forum. Im not sure people are able to see the one announcmenet you made.

Hey MannyC, yep, just done it! :)

Hopefully not too long and the new site should be launched - exciting stuff!

Hey guys, I'm online now. I think we're actually in a pretty situation with the transferring of files. I think we can try creating new pages now :)

I'll be on Skype if anyone is free.

Hey Manny, at the moment I'm just editing some videos for YouTube in iMovie that needed doing 3 days ago!! :) However, I'll try and get on Skype later if I can - in the meantime, can you LMK how we can access the new version of the site, as the main domain name still redirects to the forums - LMK and I'll have a play around during each video render, LOL! :D

Take care... :)

Spoke too soon. Good thing Manny is online to check things on his end. Everything shows up great on my end, but all the images are missing on his side. Back to the drawing board.
