Hi folks,

I received quite an exciting e-mail today from SciFiNow Magazine: http://www.scifinow.co.uk/ . These guys are producing an article about ThunderCats and want to involve ThunderCats Lair! :)

The e-mail was copied to MannyC and me - not sure why Neil was left out of it??

I must confess that when he included a "Manny" in the title and started talking about ThunderCon, I assumed he'd also contacted Manny Florendo rather than MannyC - it was only when I'd replied to the e-mail that I realised which Manny he was talking about! :D

Even though I'm very pushed in my offline life, I've nevertheless expressed an interest in getting involved in some capacity, as this could be a HUGE promotional opportunity for ThunderCats Lair - this is a magazine that sells at news stands up and down the UK! I will definitely keep you guys posted how this looks to be shaping up! :)

Here's the e-mail:

Hi Chris / Manny,

I'm a writer for SciFiNow Magazine in the UK - we're planning a huge 8-page 'complete guide' to Thundercats for an upcoming issue, and we'd love to be able to involve ThunderCatsLair.org and ThunderCon in our coverage .

We're planning to provide an overview of the franchise from original cartoons and toys to the comics and recent anime reboot - I recently produced a similar feature on Transformers for which the founder of seibertron.com gave us a rundown of his top ten collectible toys.

It'd be great to do something similar with you guys and credit the site - also I was hoping we might be able to provide some coverage of ThunderCon, if art/photos are available?

We're hoping to have assets ready towards the start of November, so anything you could help us out with would be appreciated.

I'm in discussions with Warner Bros. and should be getting plenty of great art assets and an interview with the reboot's producer/writer Michael Jelenic - I'm hoping to arrange further interviews too.

Obviously I can send you pdfs and physical copies of the magazine when it launches towards the end of the year - please don't hesitate to let me know if you need any further info.

Any suggestions/ideas would also be welcome - let me know if you're up for getting involved!

Thanks,

Tom Hopkins

Yeah cheers dude for leaving me out... How and why I don't know since I'm top of the contact page...

Oh well, hopefully this all works out. The problem is we aren't involved with ThunderCon, so I do wonder if this was really meant for ThunderCatsNOW? But then I'm not sure they would be able to help with the classic toys and series as much as we can. I mean we have original series art (by Kyle) that they could use, plus many toy images.

Maybe we could do an official poll to find the top 10 Ljn ThunderCats toys as well as the top 10 classic episodes? :)

Maybe we could ask Val Staples if he has photos of Thunder-Con to donate? It's in his interest as the magazine will promote the 2013 New York Thunder-Con and may get a few UK/Europe fans interested in attending...

I absolutely, 100% agree - completely bizarre! I did mention your name in my reply though! ;)

All excellent suggestions which I completely agree with!

As it stands I haven't heard back from the guy and haven't had time to push him on it - if I don't hear again in a week or so I might give him a nudge, and if I can get a back-and-forth dialogue going with him then I could definitely put forward these ideas and see what he says! :)

Will keep you posted when and if I hear anything more! :)

Take care... :)

Chris here...

Just to let you guys know that I had an e-mail from Tom earlier today, this has been published and he sent me the PDF files for me to see (no complimentary copies of the magazine like we were promised, even though Tom says he did ask them to send them out). :)

It all looks good, one minor grumble is that they've juggled the top 10 episodes list I sent them, so it now looks like I'm saying that "Snarf Takes Up The Challenge" is the no.1 ThunderCats episode of all time!!

I've only skimmed over the rest of it because I've had the week from hell and am really snowed under (see my Facebook for details) but apparently there's some interesting and juicy stuff in there. :)

I've sent the info over to Neil for the front page (assuming it's newsworthy enough - but I guess it probably is), as I'm really pushed for time, but just to reiterate Neil that if you're not able to get to it either, I'm more than happy to post it up myself, it will just take me a few days to get to. :)

Take care... :)
