SideShow exclusive Lion-O/Mumm-ra question

Hi guys,

I have couple of questions regarding the sideshow exclusive Lion-o and Mumm-ra statues.

1- The exclusive Mumm-Ra 32" statue images show him in few images holding a sword in his left hand but in other images show him with open left hand. Does he come with interchangable left hands? or is it just a picture error? If they were interchangable hans, how's the overall look of the wrist different from the non-exclusive statue.

2- How does the light feature work on exclusive Lion-O/Mumm-Ra 32" statues? Is it a battery in the back? Is there an opening in the statue anywhere? wires? a knob? button? anything that makes the sculpture different from the non-exclusive one?

1 - Neither. It is my understanding that there is no interchangeable hands. The exclusive has the sword which lights up. The regular edition doesn't have the sword.

2 - The EX takes batteries that are not included. I believe they take 2 AA sized. The Lion-O switch is hidden under his shirt on the back. I am not sure where the batteries go, but it is probably posted somewhere in the 200+ page thread on the Statue Forum about the ThunderCats PCS.

Edit: Found the quote from Jerry from PCS (page #196 of 223) http://www.statueforum.com/showthread.php?t=102133&page=196:

All Lion-Os will have the cavity for the battery pack in his torso. but only the EX will be wired for lights. But they arent hollow, just missing room for the battery pack.
From page #197:

On/Off switch is on the back hidden under the costume.
Also from #197:

AA batteries. No batteries installed. There are export hoops to jump through when you use larger than watch batteries. I dont have the patience to deal with that.

Thanks mcss!
I also checked with SideShow online help and they said Mumm-Ra will come with an interchangeable left hand:

Quote:
"Mumm-Ra does indeed have an interchangeable left hand"
end-of-quote

As for the light switch and batteries they said they have no information regarding how it works or looks until the item arrives.

I've checked the PCS discussion above but no one is giving enough details regarding the light feature. I'll try and post my questions there as well if I can.

For me it is very important to know where the switch is placed and how it functions. If it affects the sculpture look and makes it different from the regular one then I'll definitely pass on the EX and try and find a regular one on ebay. They need to give us more details regarding the light feature.

Going by what Jerry, the guy in charge at PCS where Lion-O and Mumm-Ra were designed, there should be no way to tell that there is a switch unless you move the fabric outfit.

Make sure you get a response from "http://www.statueforum.com/member.php?u=7103"" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">PopCultureShock" in that thread. You can guarantee that whatever he says will be fact. Sideshow has gotten their facts wrong before. They originally said that Lion-O's belt logo would lightup in the EX as well. Jerry confirmed that is not the case.

I've got an account there, I'll ask for you. Posted on page 223, waiting on a response...

Thanks so much!

Yea, I had doubts as well regarding the hand....I tried to post in the forum but looks like my account is still waiting for activation.

Hopefully we get an answer soon.

Apprectiate your help!

Learned something new today. Excellent question Lion-z.

[qoute]
The EX Mumm Ra does have interchangeable hands. They plug into the wrist via a magnet.

The on/off button for both Lion-O and Mumm Ra are on their back and hidden by fabric. You cant see the button on any of the Lion-O samples I have. If i can find a few min later today Ill post a pic.

The batteries are in the back and covered by a removable section of polystone.

Still need more clarification :)

I don't know why my account on the forum is still not active yet but I'll ask here hoping Jerry will take a look at it.

If the batteries are hidden by fabric that means the fabrick is removable.

If we need to change the batteries, how do we remove the fabric? Is it a patched fabric, zipper? is the design the same on non-exclusive, i.e fabric is removable on non-exclusive as well?

Comparison pics of the light feature between EX and non-EX will definitely make things clear.

Thanks again mcss for submitting the questions over there.

Awesome questions. Not a problem, always glad to help when I can.

No pic posted, but Jerry did say:

There is velcro on the Lion-O EX under the shoulder straps.
#9
hmmmm, now I'm really not so sure if I want the EXs or not

Looks like the velcro is an EX feature only.

Magnet pieces, batteries, wires running inside the statue, velcro, and removable polystone.

Just thinking ahead, I'm worried that these things will get lost, break, wear out pretty quickly, lights out, the tip of the velcro strap fabric will get bent eventually (which is not the case with the non-EX)...too much hand access.

Hoping we'll get comparison pictures and more details from Jerry.

Thanks again and thanks to Jerry for answeering all the questions.

Probably depends on how it is handled, and how often. Let a 5 year old kid have access to it 24/7 and it'll end up broken in no time. Put it in a display case and only show off the lightup features a few times a year, taking the batteries out when not in use, and it should remain in mint condition for a long time.

Agreed 100%

See attached photos from Jerry. Nice, clear shots. And this tidbit:

"The on/off button is inset so there is no bulge on the back of the costume"

I placed my Lion-o and Mumm-Ra EX orders before Jerry posted these pictures.....Now I look at that huge cut in his back

I share your concerns, and from the pics above I think I'll go for the normal version (just preordered Mumm-ra).

I'm also worried about the next statues : I wonder whether they'll look like the original characters in the series. Mumm-ra surely does, but as for Lion-O ...
#15
That Lion-O is awesome!

If I had the money, I would buy that statue but I have this horrible problem called rent and utilities. If they could only find a cure for rent and utilities, I would be able to buy this statue. LOL

They are going for the Wildstorm Comic Series look. Lion-O looks exactly like the McGuinness cover. Jerry from PCS stated that Hard Hero already had the comic/cartoon version coming out, but he (Jerry) couldn't pass up doing his own line so he decided to go with the Wildstorm comic version. With a different scale and style, Warner Bros. gave their blessing and let him get the license.

Thanks a lot for your message. Well, Mumm-ra happens to be true to the cartoon version as well, so I guess it will be the only one I'll get from PCS.

I was also doing the Hard-Hero collection anyway :)

I just learned this:

From PopCultureShock:

Both versions will have the cut out for the battery pack but its covered by the costume
#19
That's what I figured, but wasn't 100% sure on. But like Jerry said, it's covered by the costume and the on/off button doesn't distort the costume. I guess it is Mumm-Ra's cape that hides it on him.

Hi Guys, I just purchased the Lion O version, but found the back to look a bit different from the pics posted. The one I have has a white circular hole at the bottom instead of I think should be the button, also I can seem to get the back open to put the battery in. If anyone could help me I'd really appreciate it.

thanks
