Quick update on some of my goals:
Social Media
- Get facebook to 10,000 likes
- Get Twitter to 1,200 followers
Twitter has blown up really quickly. I used a frowned upon strategy called "churning follows" whereby you follow people who you are in your 'target audience' and a portion of them will follow you back. You later unfollow everyone and then follow more people and rinse and repeat. It's been very manual and I intend to stop doing it this way once the account reaches 3,000 followers. In July we had 170 followers, now we have almost 2,600
Facebook is going to need some creative thinking. Facebook limits your ability to invite strangers and locks you out if you start to cross a line, so there isn't a similar solution to the twitter build up. We're getting about 70 new organic likes a week which isn't nearly enough to get us over the 10k line by end of December. Do you guys have any ideas on how we get another 1,028 legitimate likes by the end of the year?
Good news on the facebook front is that we're doing great on engagement levels with existing followers. I ran a compare of us against a few sites in our "world" and when it comes to delivering posts that get reach and engagement we're doing great! Please whenever you get onto facebook, like, share, comment on our page it really helps expand our impact.
Statues Section
- Get exclusive teaser & announcement releases for PrototypeZ kits
- Ensure that Lion-O statue from PrototypeZ sells out
- Finish the sections for Hard Heroes, Pop Culture Shock and Icon Heroes Done - waiting on more content from producers
Erick at PrototypeZ has been so swamped on other lines that I'm not even sure he's sculpting the ThunderCats anymore. I'm not getting any response from him so nothing I can really do for now. I consider the sections for past lines complete unless one of the producers hits me up with more info, they have all been asked twice now so I'll pester them about once a months going forward.
Team
- Bring on a Web Guru & Social Media Guru
As you know we recently welcomed Kyle to the team!

Hey guys, a few updates from me on things that have been happening...
1. I've managed to get in contact with the person at WB who runs the official TC Facebook page. Hopefully this will develop into something that can benefit the site and help Prototype Z Studios sell out on their resin kits.
2. I have made it a mission to get the defunct T-Cat sites on the net to link their forums to ours so that we generate more members and discussion. I've approached Cheeezey, Mumm-Ra's Pyramid, Purrsia (Angie from thundercatsfans.org) and Frank at thundercatsho.com (thundercats.vpga.com - The Ultimate ThunderCats Page). I haven't heard back from Cheeezey or Mumm-Ra's Pyramid, but Frank has linked to the forums and Angie said she'd do some kind of announcement on her page to push traffic to us, not sure when that will be.
3. PrototypeZ Studios is still busy making ThunderCats resin kits. I've seen two rough 3D image sculpts, one of Lion-O and one of Mumm-Ra but I had to promise to not share the images with anyone. Erick, who is the head of the company has said that he'll have some exclusive sneak pics for us soon. Unfortunately, they're not likely to have a statue ready in time for Christmas.
That's it!
Cheers,
Mark

Hey guys, quick update on the social media side of things... I have been added as a moderator to the ThunderCats Toy Collectors facebook page. Through a few chats with the owner of that page, I learned that he also runs a successful 80s Toy Collectors page (https://www.facebook.com/pages/80s-toy-collectors/120086278027167?fref=ts)
I asked if he'd do a share exchange (where each page owner shares the other page with their own community). He was agreeable and so we went ahead and did it, and we got over 840 new likes... and still growing.
Thanks to this, we'll be achieving the 10,000 likes goal by today. I've been in touch with a number of other large pages and I think we'll be able to do a few more exchanges.
Cheers,
Mark

:D EVERY "new" toy/ figure has a page now! All links work and every page has at least one picture! Now, I still need to add additional images, information and flavor text to alot of pages, but the groundwork has been completed! 75 pages! I'll complete everything in the coming week and I'll meet my 2014 deadline!

Congratulations Justin! Your heavy lifting in that section went way beyond my expectations and I'm so happy that thanks to you, the site has finally done justice to the revival toy lines.
Thanks and well done!

Quick update on some of my progress on the Social Media side of things...
1) Our facebook page
Continues to get really good engagement and I think the great work David (Mongor) has been doing to translate posts into Spanish is helping a lot too! We get a lot of likes and shares for most posts and we're now at 22,500 followers. This is up from about 8,700 followers last September when I started revitalizing the page.
2) Our twitter page
Engagement seems pretty good here too and I routinely copy five other accounts when posting new content. These guys usually retweet and favourite posts which helps with getting more people seeing them. We're at 9,400 followers now up from under 200 last September.
3) Instagram and Google Plus
These two pages are at 420 and 60 followers and seem to be a slow build. I'm still posting content to these two given that I think Instragram will grow organically and I think posts to Google Plus get relevancy on google in general and help the site get more traffic.
4) The official Warner Bros. facebook page
I've been working with the woman at WB who runs the official page and although her posts are sporadic, she is consistently using ThunderCats.org content which has our watermark logo on images, or we get a mention for the site on her posts. On days this happens traffic to the site goes up to about 5 x a normal day. I've paid for faster services from our webhost to accomodate the traffic boost in the hopes we get even more traffic from her posts going forward. This relationship is so helpful when it comes time to promote new products such as Mezco's Tygra and the Kinetiquettes line.
