Recreating the dream, my collection....

About 2 1/2 years ago I sold my Thundercats collection. It was something that I painstakenly had to do. My wife and I were going through a rough time and I had to make sacrifices. Those of you who are married might understand my plight.

I thought for awhile about rebuilding my collection. The previous collection I had been building almost 10 years and had a lot of time and money invested in it.

When the new show and toy line was announced I was excited and happy. I felt like I was given a second chance. So one by one I started collecting the new figures, 1 opened 1 closed for my collection. Currently I am almost up to date with the new series, only missing a few things.

Since then I have begun recollecting the original Thundercats figures. I'm about a year in and am doing pretty good. I have 28 figures in the new collection so far, with the hard ones (ben-gali, stinger, driller) still to be had. Eventually I will get them but I just don't have the money right now.

Of the original collection the thing I probably miss the most and the thing that is irreplaceable was an original animation cel from the burger king kids meal from 1986. It was a priceless piece of art and I know I will never see it again.

Everything else in that collection could be replaced, except that and I really regret getting rid of it. But times were tough and I had to do what I had to do.

Have any of you ever sold your collection only to find yourself rebuilding it again?

I thankfully have not had to sell any (although I have a very modest collection), but I do have a family to take care of and give you credit for doing what needed to be done.

My thoughts exactly.

I really feel for you, i went through the same thing when i sold my wwf hasbro collection, the lot, moc.
It was before i was married and i needed money for one month as i was out of work and had rent to pay.

It took me 8 years to re-collect the lot again and probably cost twice as much.

I was tempted to sell thundercats and other lines but knew they would be harder to get again so the wrestlers went.

My wife now kind of gets it, she doesnt like toys, sees it as a waste of money but understands my love for childhood memories and the 'peter pan syndrome' most of us have.
Hell, im not affraid to admit i get more excited over toys than a new car or the latest 3d tv.

One thing i have learnt since continuing the collection, figures moc are still available, and although pricey sometimes, there all there!

I completely understand where you're coming from. I had to sell off my carded/MIB collection a few years ago, and it hurt man....BAD. Now i'm finding myself collecting loose Thundercats. It's less expensive and alot of fun too. Still wish i could collect the carded stuff again, but at this point it's just a little to pricey.
