Wow...been away briefly for a couple of days and QL is at it again. I think everyone knows I really dont have tolerance for the type of behavior she has shown in the past and truthfully I would have no problems in giving her a long stay in the Banned Usergroup.
I do consider a perma ban a bit extreme but if it is necessary then it should be done. A 1 month ban could do the trick and if that doesnt work then perma ban may be the way to go

I've done a bit of digging around to find out what she's been up to (forum wise)... well, no, it's not good. However, there was a moment where she apologised for something she had said earlier (the Mighty Mug thing, I believe) but then proceeded to post that "Trekkie" nonsense.
She's a complicated woman. She drinks, she posts crap, we infraction her and she doesn't learn her lesson. However, just banning her now is going to look harsh. Her post was deleted and the 'drunken nonsense' should have served as enough of a message to say "Hey, we know what's going on."
I would only suggest perma-ban if she steps truly out of line. I'm assuming her insulting and being a pain in the arsenal would be one. But a monthly-ban should be done only if we believe she'll get the message - which, I have to say, she never does.
It's a difficult one. There are posters like Grune and others that post regularly but have a brash attitude - whilst it's irritating and downright rude, we shouldn't be banning people for it. A friendly reminder, perhaps, followed by a sanction if she steps out of line. If we were to ban Queenie now, we'd look harsh. We want to be seen as fair.
To be honest, we wouldn't lose much from Queenie. It's a shame because she does contribute but she's so irritarting and that posting style of *queenie strangles SnarfCub* is immature and downright stupid.
Btw, none of this is criticising the moderation around here. Things have been going great - but just in relation to her, these temporary ban's don't serve well. If she steps out of line again, and it's a biggie, ban her for good.

I agree. I have never seen the point in banning someone for a week, month etc...
My style is to warn via PM or if it's group trouble, a warning post on the thread. All you achieve from banning temporarily, is to rile the person up even more, which is not productive whatsoever!
A poster can either respect others by abiding by the rules and have a couple of chances at it (because we all can go OTT sometimes...) or be gone for good.

Guys, I just wanted to add two bits about the third person posting that you all don't like. If it's anything like my board, it's something you can probably disable as an option. What she may be doing is using an old IRC chatroom command that is usually also included on board software like this, where you type a forward slash then me then what you want to say in the third person or something similar.
Honestly, I don't think she's doing it to be totally obnoxious, but rather it's a "generational" thing...back when she first joined the fandom a lot of us still used IRC chat to get together and be silly and it was pretty acceptable for everyone to use this command. Of course if it's not something you're accustomed to, I can see how it can be annoying, and it doesn't necessarily translate well in the forum format. Personally, I usually don't use it outside of chat where it's more expected/accepted.
At any rate, if there is some kind of built in IRC command thing on here and you disable it then that may curtail the usage of this style of posting. Or at least we can hope!
