Jerry Macaluso the owner (also sculptor and designer) has not officially announced it, but judging by his comments in the above thread it's safe to say we will see the announcement by next week or so.
Pop Culture Shock will be making Thundercats statues in the large scale of 1:4 (18 inches).
They are currently manufacturing Street Fighter statues, busts and dioramas.
Great news and all but I'm kinda torn about it. So now we have HH and Pop Culture making Thundercats statues, Oh boy... decisions-decisions.

It's not official yet, WB might not give the rights.

I feel it's a done deal. Like with most merchandise licenses, Thundercats license is being granted under various categories including under different scale for statues.
Hard Hero has the license for 1:7 scale statues (maybe for another year or two).
Pop Culture Shock has the license for 1:4 scale statues.
Having options is a win win situation for fans, they can choose what they like and due to this companies will strive to make their products better than the rest.

Cool for those who collect statues, but I only collect action figures.

Thanks for sharing this news here Vivek, this is a very interesting development and I will wait to see what Jerry says next. Do you know the link to the thread where we initially suggested he had picked up a new license?

Not sure which post that was, as I had not seen that thread/post. But it was probably few months back when he made that "Ho" comment.
In the mean time here are few other comments shared by Jerry, before that new Thundercats thread was started.
Why do you sell your statue through Sideshow? Why not just open your own site and sell it yourself? Is it because of inventory or shipping logistics that you need to use Sideshow for it?
just curious. I would think Sideshow gets some percentage of your profit. It seems like people think your statues are created by "Sideshow" instead of your company. Even on eBay, I see seller puts "Sideshow Street Fighter"...

I used to own a company called SOTA Toys. it was a pretty decent sized company and the one thing I leanred owning that company is i dont want to have to deal with sales or warehousing or shipping.
Its no fun at all.
Sideshow handles those things for me and in exchange gets a piece of the pie.
Hey Jerry. Are you doing a realistic version or likeness based on the cartoons? I'm sure most fans want the face to resemble the cartoons. I know I do.
Also please seperate statue from base to decrease likelyhood of damages.
PopCultureShock said:
As with Street Fighter its sort of an amalgamation.
Its not 100% realistic nor 100% cartoon.
I would say its closest to what McGuiness did in the comics (which I am a big fan of).
I wish he would have gone with the cartoon likeness, but since it will be mix of cartoon and comic looks I am hoping it will be good.

Am i reading it right or is this a mistake? 38" statue!! I don't know if that is good or bad, also judging from the only pic, we can't figure out much.
He mentioned about being close to McGuiness designs, which i thing is very similar to the original cartoon image, more than the rest comic versions.
Also, the price..... And probably it will hit the stores next year i guess..

I was surprised by the size of 38" as well. But judging by the pic it's meant to be from the tip of the sword to the bottom of the base. Lion-O will be about 18".
Somebody asked Jerry whether the price would be around the $400 range, he confirmed that it would somewhere close to that.
Some of the 1:4 Street Fighter Mixed Media statues are priced $385, while others are priced at $250.
Definitely only for the serious collectors.

Spideristic thanks for keeping us upadated on this subject. I've seen and really liked the Ryu vs Sagat Diorama. It is 19" and it looks huge, imagine how
Lion-o 38" will be! Now, real fabric clothes like the Street Fighter statues, i am not sure how this idea will fit in Thundercats,i wait for more pics to leak and then come to a conclusion,it's very early. However, i believe since Jerry is a Thundercats fan all along and there is a growing demand for a very faithfull represantation of Lion-o's image exactly as shown at the cartoon and taking into account the dissatisfaction over the HH lion-o this one it has all the reasons and prerequisite like height, pose, sculptor to be 100% catoon realistic.
I noticed that fellow TCL member Lord LionO had posted a question asking when we will get to see better picks of Lion-O. I urge others to do the same, post character suggestions especially poses and post screen shots as well. Some of the creative members here will definitely have better ideas than what I can come up with.
Mark, I hope you're planning to approach Jerry officially from TCL to get more information from him. Hopefully an interview as well.

Sounds like some good news, however it is a shame I don't do statues either. I am also an action figure kind of guy. Would be nice if they made ThunderCats figures like the Masters of the Univers Classics.

On the one hand this is great. But as a person desperately seeking a new adult collector figure line, this just further removes any excuse for why Hasbro, Mattel, or NECA can't acquire the rights to a new figure line. I'm really really hoping that there will be a big reveal at SDCC this year by one of those companies. Not sure how these deals work: if the deal is negotiated 100% up front or if there is a share of the sale that goes to WB or some sort of combination of the two. Any of the 3 in my mind, more money would go to Warner Bros with an adult collector action figure line by one of those 3 companies. In other words Warner Bros. would stand to make more off of a figure line than either of these statue lines....maybe both combined. So I'm hoping that logic leads to SOMEONE (read - not Bandai) getting the rights to do a figures line based on the 80's characters & WS comic characters....soon. As in this year.

As much as I love the fact that this will be massive, I wouldn't know where to put it and keep it safe from harm. A part of me is hoping it will suck only so that I can focus on HH statues lol!

True, space will be a big problem for this statue. But like with most large scale statues, custom display setup would be the ideal way to display this statue.
Ikea Detolf setup as shown in the pic below also could be used to display it.
At the bottom you can see Sideshow's Thor Premium Format Figure which measures 30" in height. Similar to what Lion-O would look like on a rock base with his extended arm.

Vivek is that your collection in the pic?
Just looked up what an Ikea Detolf is... pretty cool
Oh no.. that is not my mine, it is from a fellow staueforum member ta2215. I hope to customize my own room with a similar setup when I collect enough statue and collectibles.. someday ;).
Here is another cool custom designed setup of statue collection from member SquiderM3
These guys have such an amazing collection! They should charge a ticket for entering the statue room, like a museum!!, very impressive and well displayed!
Hey Jerry, now that you officially have the license for 1/4 stuff, does that mean that there is a possibility for mini statues as well, like how you're doing for Street Fighter? :)
PopCultureShock said:
A possibility. Yes. Something Ive thought about. Not really.
Gotta get the 1/4 scale pieces going before I think about anything else.
1/4 Scale Statues! 1:1 busts! Dioramas!!! 1/2 scale busts! 1/1 Replica of the Sword of Omens! i think that's good for starters
PopCultureShock said:
WB really cares about TCats and doesnt want to flood the market with too many products...but Ill see what i can do.
NWO SCUMS said:
word of Omens would be an awesome site to behold, however, that that's more in line of a United Cutlery, Cold Steel or a private sword maker who specializes in the forging of steel.
Unless Jerry has master sword making skills we don't know about?
