Not too much thought is required for me to comment on this episode because it's one of my least favourites. I may be quite biased in my view due to this being the episode I have most watched out of all 130.

You see VCI released it as part of the Exodus feature length movie and then again, but this time the uncut/unabridged version on their Thundercats volume 5 release. As a kid I watched all my Thundercats VCI tapes a lot and therefore watched Berbils double the amount of time of any other episode I had.

I agree with optimus prime that it's a good intro for the Berbils, but with no appearance by the mutants I think that's where it fails. I've always liked the mutants as villians, so therefore my least favourite episodes of season 1 will be the eps they are absent in.

I think this episode however did show how much Mumm-Ra underestimated the Thundercats because his plan to destroy the Berbils food supply was quite feable.

I'd give this episode 6 out of 10, IF I was watching it for the first time, however I like the Berbils so it gets a 7 out of 10 from me.

This episode really didnt do much for me...the only interest that i found was that the Berbils were the ones who helped build the Cat's Lair.I also agree that with the lack of the mutants this episode didnt fair too well IMO. It couldve used more of their appearance for more action. One of the weakest truthfully...my grade? 3/5 stars

The big drawback for me on this episode was that the Berbils characters were very hard sometimes near impossible to understand without captions (thinking back as a kid this must have frustrated me to no end). Other than that its cool because the Thundercats make one of their first third earth alliances, which in turn helps get the Cats Lair built. I also liked the Trollogs

3. Berbils

I actually like this episode. I agree there is not much action, but there is more than enough action in the rest of the series. It shows that things are noy always as they seem.

First of all Lion-O and Snarf thought of the Ro-Ber-Berbils as threats; eventually establishing their pleasant nature. Then we learn of the Trollogs who attack the Berbil village for candy fruit. Lion-O sees them as a threat and fights them back. Eventually we learn that it was infact the Giantors who were forcing them to do this.

I agree that Mumm-Ra's attempt to ruin the Berbils crops was quite weak... but most of his plots are easily foiled..:mummra:

It probably isn't the best of the first 4 episodes, but I still like it..its a 3* for me:)

I totally agree with kzlambert. I actually really did like this episode quite a bit. This was actually one of the last episodes I saw of the re-runs before they took it off the air over here in Idaho. I think the Berbils are interesting characters, and I loved the plot of this episode. I especially thought it was cool how they formed an alliance with them, and how the Berbils helped them to build the Cat's Lair. Definitely a 3 out of 5... :tygra:

Howdy

Meh it was okay. The Robear-Bils are cool but the overall ep was nothing special.

4/10

At the start of Berbils, it shows mumm-ra's pyramid with the mutants burnt spaceship, again this is an error! The spaceship is raised from The Desert of Sinking Sands by mumm-ra in Episode 14 The Spaceship beneath the sands. First time it shows mumm-ra talking to himself by looking at the cauldron. If Mumm-Ra wants to transform in a swarm of locusts, he should transform to his ever living form first then into the swarm. That scene must be very scary, when he screamed when transforming into a swarm of locusts. "THE THUNDERCATS HAVE SURVIVED AND NOW THEY HAVE BEFRIENDED THE RO-BEAR BERBILS, THEY WOULD HAVE AN ENDLESS FOOD SUPPLY, THAT CAN NOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN! ROOAAARRRRR!!!"
Second error of mumm-ra's disguise in Pumm-ra was actually mumm-ra's 2nd disguise after the swarm of locusts in Berbils. Anybody agrees?

The "Berbils" episode for me was good in that the Berbils themselves were the first species the ThunderCats have encountered and to be called allies. The fight scenes with the Trollogs and Giantors were highlights that I really liked. And, of course, Mumm-Ra becoming a bunch of locusts and then a giant one was interesting.
