Looks pretty good to me, cant wait to see the others.

Chris here...

Looks better with the longer Sword of Omens, I must admit that these are growing on me! :)

Take care... :)

Dang it, I might need to get both of these now!

Sure is a busy year for Cats merchandise!

I'm glad I saw this one and since it will be out in August I think I will wait on buying the SDCC one at the premium post-show price and get this one. That will also give plenty of time for them to announce more figures, playsets etc. to let me know if I want to invest the money/make enough display room for this line. I'm definitely excited to see statues closer to the LJN size and can't wait to see what packaging will look like.

I do too believe that with the longer sword and this base looks much better, still i am not so fond of it. The weakest point is the face.

I understand the artistic liberty while making statues like the one we have seen by HH and Pop Culture Shock, which might change a little bit the original icon of Lion-o as we have him pictured in our minds but i can't figure out why Icon Heroes chose to differ their Lion-o version so much from the cartoon when they could make a very faithful mini-statue appealing to the wider audience.

Also it beats me why the price of the SDCC Thundercats Lion-o has reached the price of US $110!!!! at the e-bay.
I couldn't believe my eyes, we are talking about a 6'' resin mini statue, it is preposterous:lionomad:

That's just an asking price, the only one to have sold went for $60 plus $23 shipping

That's true, that seller sold 3 Lion-o i think.
$60 stands to reason for a limited piece.
I have given much more money for a single LJN figure but the 80s toyline were a legendary production which goes hand in hand with the Cartoon as far as the Thundercats mythos is concerned.

Not to be a downer but the two things I like about this staction are the color (very cartoon accurate) and the forest stand (also very reminiscent of the cartoon) The body sculpt is weird, the torso is either too long or legs are too short. The face is pretty bad but the staction from afar looks pretty good.

It's a beautiful piece. However, I have some complaints:
1) The most iconic pose for Lion-O is to hold the sword aloft. Why not put the staction in this pose?
2) It looks like the staction is all one piece, which would make it extremely difficult - if not impossible - to change it into an action figure. The big reason for the success of the early waves of MOTU stactions was that they were easy to customize into action figures due to their multiple components. If I can't turn this into a classic Lion-O action figure that can hold the Sword of Omens aloft, is there a point to buying it?
3) $60 for a six-inch item is way too expensive. If that's the MSRP of this line, I can't afford to collect it.
4) I think the Sword of Omens should be a little shinier.

I like this Lion-O - I think the colors are cartoon accurate. I agree the face could use some more "emotion" but other than that I think the sculpt is pretty awesome. Considering the Pop Culture Shock is probably gonna be around $400, and that new HH Bengali is $200 at 10 inches, $60 seems reasonable for a 6 inch statue. I collect tons of mini busts and statues and they all run about the same price for something around 6 inches. Now if this were an action figure - heck no!

I know that i've been nagging lately for the costly price of the SDCC LIon-o (over at the e-bay,he can be purchased for 110$ USD!,excluding shipping costs) but i am tempted to buy him mainly for 2 reasons: a) He is a limited piece, the third and probably final Lion-o figure (if Bandai doesn't make the classic line) produced after 25 years following HH AND PoP cUlture and resembling to the old show. b) Hot Damn! i like so much the BOX art! and i am not sure if i will purchase any other staction figures from Icon Heroes.
l
I would like to ask though, if anyone knows the estimated price for the regular Non-SDCC Lion-o will be around 110$ as well?

Thanks

The reason it is going for double the cost on ebay is cause some fans who can't attend Comic Con are willing to pay that much to have it. If nobody pays them at those prices, the statues will get sold at a lower cost in the coming months. It's all hype before the Comic Con, if you wanna take a chance then wait for few more months. Of course if it gets sold out quickly and doesn't appear frequently on the secondary market, then the price may even cross $120 and above.

Personally I like the regular version with the long sword and forest environment base. Except for Lion-O's dull facial expression, I think Icon Heroes have done a great job with the statue; in terms of the pose, sculpt texture and paint job. For some $60 might still be little pricey as the statue is only 6" tall, but of course unlike 6" action figures this is made of Polyresin.

If you still want to buy the SDCC Edition, pre-order it at ShopAFX for $60 and try to get any of your friends in US who are attending SDCC to pick it up for you.

The regular edition will likely be priced at $60, just as the SDCC edition.

i think 110 bucks is a con(no sdcc pun indended!) considering you can get a MUCH better hard hero lion-o on ebay for $149.

I will be waiting for the vehicles but have yesterday bought a hard hero lion-o for £129

i dont think hard hero have a vehicle licence and i really cant afford a popculture shock lion-o.

hard hero have been clever at producing good looking statues at reasonable prices.

i would like to know when the thunderclaw is out and the amount-i hope its no more than $100.

i wish they would hurry up with the thundertank and cats lair though. i seem to remember its vultureman next though

I appreciate your concern Vivek, thanks for the prompt response:thumbsup:

$60 USD for a regular is an acceptable price, but as you said owing to the hype the SDCC Lion-o is sold almost twice that amount. The demand defines the final price,so i guess this Lion-o must be a sought after product. I am not sure if its price will be reduced over the couple months, usually these items are sold right away despite their medium quality(compared to statues).

An average fan will be more willing to spend $100 USD rather than $200 USD for a statue. That's why i believe this line will sell out and very quickly, especially if the price for the regulars is $60USD.

I've checked out the shopafx site, unfortunatelly i have no friends living in America, just some forgoten relatives in Miami.

Thanks

Well then try this ebay auction, maybe you have already seen this. Wanted to send this via PM earlier, but you have PMs and emails disabled

The seller is offering it at $100 and then international shipping at $12. Although it is the best offer, the seller has also kept the option to Make Offer. Perhaps you can bargain for $90 and maybe it get for $102 including shipping.

Thanks again Vivek, I must have made a mistake and ticked off the "Receive Private Messages only from Contacts and Moderators" at the Message&Notification options page. Thank you for reminding me because i didn't have the slightest idea. I wasn't aware, thought my PM and e-mail worked fine.

I'll try and contact this seller to see if $12 Usd is the actual shipping cost. The box seems pretty huge so i didn't expect less than $25-30 for shipping charges, besides it's a long distance! Maybe i'll give it a shot with Best offer and see what comes out.

Thanks a lot :liono

Icon Heroes – Lion-O Statue Resin Mini-Statue

Pre-order them on August 5, 2010 with the launch of their weekly newspaper. You can also follow them on twitter and join their facebook page to remain updated when the newsletter comes online, which is usually between 5-6pm PST. Their newsletter is usually posted on Thursdays, so that date of August 6 in the above link is probably a mistake.

I didn't know that Sideshow was releasing this, what this information known before?

Another strange thing is that they have used the McGuinness cover art as a background image, which would be more fitting for the Pop Culture Shock Lion-O statue.

I think this has to rate as by far the poorest likeness of Lion-o of the LJN, HH, PCS, IH lines. It really is pretty dismal!

Their Jackalman and Thunderclaw are brilliant - it's like they're just ignoring the fact it looks absolutely nothing like Lion-o. It's only because Warner have no clue about the property that they've approved this. I'll add the caveat that I'm certainly not a sculptor, but how hard is it to make it look more like this image? Actually like the character it represents? It's a great body sculpt and sword, just terrible face!

Cheers
Dave
