Need some help on the Comic Section... :)

Hi guys,

Just wondering whether anybody here would be able and willing to give me a hand moving material over to the new site for our Original Comic Art Section? :)

I've already made a start but have a massive amount still to do - I definitely wouldn't expect someone to take on the whole job as there are over 100 pages that need porting over! But, I was wondering whether someone might be able to give me a hand to help get the job done a little faster? :)

All the pages are based off the same template, with very little variation between the way they're laid out so they're not too time-consuming - as I say, I've already made a start, here's an example page (which could also be used as a template): http://www.thundercatslair.org/comics-main/original-art-gallery/marvel-uk-gallery/thundercats-issue-9-cover/ . :)

If any of you guys would be up for helping, LMK and I'll post up everything you need to know about how the pages are set up (it's all dead easy)! :)

Anyway, no worries, but if any of you guys would be willing to give me a hand with this, it would really mean a lot to me as I'd love to get this section back online ASAP, plus it would free me up to help you guys with some of the Toy Section pages that still need transferring to the new site! :)

I can try and do a few pages for you. I looked at the test page and there isn't much to do if they are all like that!

Can we just copy and paste from the old site into this template?

It's basically exactly the same setup as when you guys transferred the content from the old LJN Toy Guide into the new, it just needs the text copy-and-pasting from the old page (so, where a page says "Pencilled by:" and you have the corresponding field next to that, it would need the name of whoever pencilled it adding in there - you get the idea, LOL!) and the image link(s) copy-and-pasting too. They are pretty straightforward pages. :)

The biggest thing to watch out for is depending on what series a page comes from it would have a different "parent page", so for example the parent page for that one should say something like "UK Gallery" or something like that (can't remember what I called it, LOL!). I can check that out and LYK! :)

Ill give you a hand Chris...Im currently at work so i cant do much, but once i get home I can start a few pages. I suggest before we start each page to have a look at what is currently done so that we dont do things twice.

100 pages should be done rather quickly IMO if it is a copy and paste job

In terms of not crossing over work, the Original Comic Art Section is split into four sub-sections - Marvel (Star) Comics (the US series from the 1980s), DC/Wildstorm Comics (the comic series that came out in the early 2000's), UK Marvel Series (the UK comic from the 1980s) and Miscellaneous (anything vaguely comic-related that doesn't fit in any of the above, LOL!). So, my proposal would be maybe if we each work on a different area - i.e., one of us work on the UK Comics area, another on DC/Wildstorm, and another on the US Marvel Series, etc. Does this sound like a plan? :)

On the example page in the new site that I linked to in my earlier post above, you'll notice that the "Parent page" is set to Marvel UK Gallery - looks like I set up four such parent pages, the UK one, Marvel (Star) Gallery, DC/Wildstorm Gallery and Miscellaneous Gallery! :)

With you guys having done such a great job on the Toy Guide pages, to be honest these are easier - LMK what you'd like to do, and again, I really appreciate all your kind help with this! :)

These look amazing, I can't thank you enough! :) If you were up for doing some more I won't deny I'd love the help, but you've done loads here so no worries if not - you've really helped me out here, now I can re-do the index page for the UK Comics art and get that back online! :thumbsup:

Just to let you guys know that I've just transferred all the Marvel (Star) US ThunderCats comic art pages over today - will try and get this whole section finished by the end of this week if I possibly can, then it's just the index pages to rebuild which shouldn't take long! :)

If anyone was able to give me a hand with some of what's left that would be awesome, but do realise that MannyC's studies have started up again which obviously sucks away a lot of his spare time, so no sweat - it'll be done, and once the section is back online I even have a handful of new pages to add too! :thumbsup:
