As a sister project to ROCKS, we're starting a movie club on here.
The premise is simple enough, we pick a movie each week for the group to watch (this could be a public vote), and then we all get together on here and share our thoughts on it.
This may be a little more accessible to people than ROCKS, because a film is a single entity and requires less emotional investment.
Anyway, to get the ball rolling, we're going to start off with something that should be very accessible to everyone on here, a 1980s classic, the original Ghostbusters. I'll put the thread up for that either today or tomorrow.
Any requests for movies to discuss, here is the place to submit them.

OK people, they've been away for a while, but Movie Club and ROCKS will both be returning this weekend. Any suggestions of what to watch, give me a shout.

I'm happy with whichever movie is chosen, but being a child of the 80s, movies from that era are my favorites, so I'll post a few of my suggestions: :)
Indiana Jones
Back To The Future
E.T
Star Wars
Die Hard
The Terminator
Rambo
Rocky
Batman
Superman
Predator
Commando
Bloodsport
Kickboxer
James Bond
The Running Man
Red Heat
Beverly Hills Cop
Rain Man
The Karate Kid

I was thinking of the Back To The Future trilogy as a good way to relaunch this one.

Sounds good to me... as long as we don't create a time paradox, the results of which could cause a chain reaction that would unravel the very fabric of the space time continuum, and destroy the entire universe! ;)

Agree with a lot of films on this list. I'm an '80's kid as well, and the movies suggested (that haven't already been discussed) sound great.
Also, here are some other suggestions - I've re-watched some of these recently & they're all great films:
Pump Up the Volume (1990)
Amadeus (1984)
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968)
The Truman Show (1998)
Being There (1979)

There's some classics there that I haven't actually seen. Some of those are definitely worth including. We've been thinking of doing another tie-in with ROCKS the next few weeks - with ROCKS we're going to be watching select episodes of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and are looking at watching the various films of the franchise too. But after that, sure, there's two on your list that I'm very curious about, one that I'm slightly curious about, one that I think I've heard the title of and would probably be willing to have a go with.

Some other movie recommendations for the movie club. These are all diverse films that I've seen over the years, and in many cases re-watched recently.
Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead (1991)
Play Misty for Me (1971) - may be too adult for this board, but it's one of my favorite Clint Eastwood films
Blow-up (1966)
Blade Runner (1982)
Dark City (1998)
Pretty in Pink (1986)
Casino (1995)
Alien Nation (1988) - note this is the original film, not the later TV series
And,
Weekend at Bernie's (1989) - great summer film - LOL.
