Mongor

So, who else wants this scythe weilding goat man to appear somewhere in the next few waves?
Is he a favourite? Or are there other non-regular villains from the LJN line that you prefer and would rather see first?
Would you prefer villains that were part of a group as opposed to individual ones? Would you rather build teams first?
For me, it was only the mutant and cat groups that I was most eager for before anything else. Also Mumm-Ra and Grune because one is the main villain, one is a former Thundercat as well as both being known fan favourites. They're also favourites of mine and so is Mongor. Hachiman is my favourite Thundercat ally, closely followed by Snowman but what about the rest of you? Perhaps some of you are just as eager for Lunataks an Berzerkers or even a team of good guys like the Berbils or the Tuskas.
I'm not sure how characters beyond the original core ones compare in popularity apart from Grune because his first appearance in the show often gets voted as the most popular episode so I wanted to gauge this. Sebastian suggested starting this thread and Toy bro also mentioned the character who I've initially mentioned here during his last interview with Sebastian. That interested me. I actually want this character in the next wave but I don't know the likelihood. I had this feeling that it could be a long time before he appears but I think that popularity will be a factor here, despite Super7 sometimes wanting to save certain characters for a later time. If there is high demand, you can only hold off for so long because building momentum is just as important as building anticipation. You don't want the excitement or appeal to fade in any way and nobody ever really knows what the lifespan will be for a toyline.

Hey hey! Glad you opened this thread. I for one would LOOOOOVEEEEE a Mongor. I think his design will work so well in the hands of the 4H. What he must come with is fire effects! And a tiny cowering version of him, and his tomb… (but that may be too big).
I think there is enough space in a wave to include one TC (lots left like Claudus, Jagara, K&K, the Snarfs, Bengali, TC guards, the original Totem of Dera owner, the comic characters Wilycub etc), one good guy (like Hachiman, MummRana etc), one bad guy team member (the mutants only have Ratar-O/tilla, Vultureman and troop builders left while we can still the Berzerkers and the Lunataks) and then the one offs like Mongor, Captain Shiner etc. Grouping two team members from the same faction may be a bit much? Stretching it out may be best and that way a one offer like Mongor could appear sooner. Then again you all know S7 surprises us with totally unpredictable choices!!!

Rant over, I do want Mongor. Yes please. I don’t care if it isn’t right now, because I do have others I really want first, but he must be popular enough to get made because he had a toy back in the day.

I always thought he'd be good in the hands of 4H too. I think they would make him quite big and imposing. They're also very good at sculpting monsters and animal-like humanoids. That's why they were a no brainer for He-Man and Thundercats when you think about it.
Yes, I agree that Super7 probably won't have two characters from the same faction in many of the waves together. It makes sense not to. What I like about Mongor is that he's scary and very powerful. One of the most formindable that the Thundercats ever faced and if the secret of how to defeat him isn't discovered, I'm not really sure how you defeat him. Captain Shiner is a character who I actually found quite funny. It's hard to dislike him, even when he's working for the wrong team. Super7 does always surprise us. I don't know of anybody who has been able to correctly predict all 4 figures in each wave so far, I haven't. I think they're quite keen to give us characters that were never made by LJN so I don't think that Claudus will be too far away. I know that Mongor had a toy back in the day but I just used to think that he got one because he appeared relatively early and the plan may always have been to make season 1 characters before moving on to characters that appeared later. The initial plan may have been to just get as many characters made as possible. The LJN toyline didn't last long enough in my opinion and it wouldn't surprise me if the cancellation of it had come sooner than what LJN had expected. For an 80's toyline, I thought it was fantastic. The sculpts on some of those figures were brilliant.

Mongor is actually one of the few characters from the original toy line that I don't have, so I would welcome a Super 7 one. That was a lot of the reason why I bought the new Captain Cracker. It wasn't because I had a great love for the character. It was simply because I didn't have the original LJN one and didn't want to pay the obscene prices.

Mongor has a great fantasy design that would look good displayed with all action figures.
I didn't have Mongor growing up but I did have him in my vintage collection before I sold my collection.

I'm definitely excited to see a 4 Horsemen version of Mongor! I'm hoping he is big and horrifying!

Well I think he will benefit from the 4H treatment.

I agree. He's very demonic. I have the LJN version but I'm hoping for a scarier face sculpt this time around. The LJN version looks like he's just sat on a cactus.

Not all of the figures sculpted by The Four Horsemen are actually sculpted by them, the 4x that founded the company, but artists that are employees of Four Horsemen Studios and outsourced freelance artists.

Well we will just have to hope for the best I suppose.

Count me in for Mongor!
He's not a favorite but would be a great addition and I'm sure the 4H could knock him out of the park.
