Mezco ThunderCats misc! :)

Hey gang,

Just a thought - we really ought to add a Mezco section to the site since they're making ThunderCats products...and damned gorgeous ones I might add!! :thumbsup:

The question in my mind is, where do we add the Mezco section to, i.e. as a subsection in Toys (because the Mezco figures are posable) or in Collectibles (because even though they're posable they're designed with the adult collector in mind)? :)

Answers on a postcard please, LOL! :D Seriously, what do you guys think? I'd be interested to hear your thoughts! :)

Oh and BTW, has anyone from the team been in touch with Mezco to try and strike up a relationship with them? If we mentioned that we're now in contact with both WB's and Bandai's press department, as well as the close relationship we have with all the statue manufacturers, they ought to regard us as an online force to be reckoned with when it comes to promoting ThunderCats merchandise! :)

Sorry to nag on this, just wondered if anyone had any thoughts or info on this? :) I've currently got a close-up of the Mezco Lion-O as my desktop wallpaper and so he's constantly in the forefront of my mind, LOL! :D

I'd say it belongs in the 'Toy' section since it's articulated. I think Collectibles will become a big enough section in time and the Mezco stuff will get lost in it.

As for contact, not sure where you would start as I've never heard of them until it was announced they were making that Lion-O! lol Do they have a website? Maybe you could contact them that way....?

OK, let's shoot for putting it in there - I agree with your thoughts about Collectibles, as not only does each statue line (quite rightly) have its own subsection in there but so does 1980s merchandise, and in fact if and when new licensed products from the new ThunderCats series start showing up, those will also need their own subsection in there too! :)

I'm sure I could find contact info, the reason I asked if any of the team had been in touch with them is because I have a vague memory of MannyF saying that Mezco had actually been in touch with him, or is my mind playing tricks on me? :confused: Obviously this would be useful to know - MannyF, am I remembering right or are my advancing years catching up with me, LOL! :)

He sent over the press release and asked if we'd like to make an appointment with them at Toy Fair -- unfortunately not knowing we could attend and having contacted them in the beginning of February left me very little time to work anything out.

He did ask how much traffic the site got everyday, which I just summarized as the site garnering over 50,000 unique visitors in the month of January. Might be a bit of a white lie since January was the only month we've hit over 50,000, but I digress ;)

But yeah, just let me know if someone will be taking over so I won't step on anyone's toes.

Hey MannyF, thanks for letting me know about this - very glad indeed to know that my memory isn't playing tricks on me! :D

For myself I've no preference for whoever is in contact with Mezco as long as we have an open line of communication between them and us, and that whoever from the team is liasing with them is able to carry on doing so, and keep all of us on the team in the loop with what they say. :) It would be great to build up a relationship with them similar to the ones that Mark has built up with the statue companies! :thumbsup:

Oh and BTW, well done with the 50,000 hits mention, Manny - nice bit of positive TCL promotion there!! :thumbsup:

I can say that although I'd like to have contact with Mezco, my current school situation leaves me with little time to get anything else done. I'd go with either Neil or Chris to contact Mezco.

Just an update to let you guys know that I've e-mailed Mike Drake about the possibility of receiving news updates from Mezco about their upcoming ThunderCats products, and told him that I'm now (at least for the time being) his contact for that aspect of things. :)

I'll keep you guys posted on what he says. Speaking as a fan, I adore the look of Mezco's Lion-O and if he's not too pricy I actually plan to get one, so obviously I'm very eager to get news from their product line as soon as it happens, LOL! :D

UPDATE:

I was right about the exclusive content - if you haven't seen it, check out the front page! :thumbsup:

This was a co-exclusive between us and MTV News, both of us were given strict instructions not to post it before 12:01am today - I asked Mike whether that meant a US timezone or just the timezone the website in question was using (as I'm on UK time of course), and Mike replied "Lets say midnight in whatever time zone you are in...this gives you a 5 hour leg up on NY." :)

So yep, we got our first TCL exclusive from Mezco, which I'm really happy about! :)

I'll keep you guys posted regarding any new Mezco news and updates! :)
