Message Board Overhaul

I know what you guys are saying...

Team: You want to overhaul the message boards, NOW? We just completed the site relaunch! Can't you give us a break?

Manny: Buuuut, we might as well do it while the iron is HOT! :cool:

Anyhow, I'm going to study all the ins and outs of the forum, but I'm going to need help creating graphics. I'd like to have a background like they have at He-Man.org.

Perhaps once Kyle has free time, he can help us with the forum logo and background, buttons, etc. :)

I also would like to do some restructuring of the forums:

- Remove the Member Only Forum: I don't remember what this was suppose to be!

- Create a New Cartoon and Toy Forum for the upcoming toy line and series. That Bandai toy thread is super looong and has 50,000+ views! It's difficult to go through!

What you guys think?

Go ahead and post of the mod forum. I also think a new forum should be created for the new toys and cartoons. As far as overhaul do you mean only the graphics portion?

I think images does need updating, I think though that we can keep the current vesrion of vbulletin which seems to work allright

Yeah, I meant design-wise. I don't want to change software!!! That'd be sooo much work!

Wow, great to see this being done - you might remember I was pushing for this about 6 months ago, so great to see it happening, brilliant stuff! :thumbsup:

Re: the Members' Only section, the reason for this was because we came up with the idea of creating PDF files of full Marvel ThunderCats comics, but I wasn't comfortable with making them available to download off the site because it's bootlegging copyrighted material - so, we came up with the suggestion of making them available to forum members only, as a little "goody" for them for signing up to the forums! :)

Of course it was only a partial "workaround" for the copyright issue, because somebody could download them and circulate them as much as they liked - but, it was something that someone could only know was available if they bothered to sign up to our forums! :)

Unfortunately one day this whole site got deleted by accident and when you re-uploaded it, MannyF, you had to leave the PDF files off because you exceeded your upload quota...and they remained offline ever since! :)

Some members still ask me about the full comic downloads, including folks offering to scan them for us to make available - I know there are those who'd like them added to the main body of the site, but to be truthful I'm uncomfortable with doing this because of copyright infringement - even though they're all out-of-print they still belong jointly to Marvel Comics and Warner Bros, two very powerful companies. I had wondered whether we could diplomatically get over this by making them available to access via the Members' Only section, but obviously if we're scrapping this (which I understand, because it's been dead for years) then that removes that as a vessel for achieving that... :)
