The first post of this thread was updated with a full body photo of Lion-O.
Now that we've seen the entire body, he doesn't look too bad. I think the background and the angle of the first close-up photo made him look really bad.
It looks a lot promising now!
Agreed! I am starting to really like it. What will make or break it now for me is the price.

...the price, and how ridiculously long the line is to buy one (or as is becoming more popular at Comic Con, how long the line is to get a raffle ticket for a chance to win the privilege to buy one).
Myself, I'm probably passing on this one. And whats with Icon Heroes opting to make a Jackleman figure as the second release in the line? I can't get a better villain, like say.... Mumm-Ra???

Indeed the body seems much better, i am starting to like it too. The price will be the dominant factor.
Just read it, 500 pieces exclusively for a 6'' staction figure? How come?
So in SDCC they will reveal for the first time the Icon heroe's Lion-o and POP Culture show massive 38'' Lion-o. Am i right?

Likely to flesh out popular characters so they don't pack them all at the beginning and leave B and C list characters at the end of the line. That's the reasoning for the spacing of some characters in the MOTU Classics line. Jaga's 3rd to come out so I'd say you're getting two of the more sought after figures at the start, not bad really. Mumm-Ra will come eventually if these stactions even make it that long.
When I first heard this news I was sort of on the fence about it, as at the time I thought it'd be the closest we would get to action figures for a while and that they might tide me over until a new figure line came about. However, since that has been revealed (and no matter how much confidence I lack in the 'Bandaicats' that will be coming) I'll be sticking to those as I'm an action figure guy (obviously).

I still don't like it. Lion-O's left hand only has 3 fingers and a thumb. The top half looks better than the bottom half but that isn't saying much

Lion-O correctly has three fingers on his gloved hand and a thumb. This is how he appeared in the show.

I hust checked on e-bay and saw Lion-o from Icon Heroes available for pre-order.The price excluding shipping costs is US $59.99. If that is going to be his final price, then i believe it is too expensive for this kind of quality.

That is just someone trying to make a few quick bucks. I wouldn't worry about trying to track one down till after SDCC is over, they'll be plenty to go around once the initial hype dies down.
After seeing a full shot of this thing, I'd say 15 or 20 tops.
EDIT: Hmm, after doing some more investigating, it looks like AFX also has these up for preorder (and con pickup) http://shopafx.com/thlistfi.html
Hard to believe they are asking sixty bucks, altho since it's resin, it should be a hefty piece.

I looked at all of those poses of Lion-O and I still don't like it. It looks like something off of ebay. I shouldn't say that, I've seen some customs that look better than this.
I guess it's the face. There is something off about it, especially the eyes. It almost looks like he is stoned or drunk.

Sand? I like that its not over-done with too much goin on but...just plain, yellow-ish sand? Why? I expected the Cat symbol or something Cats' Lair inspired... I hope it's not the final version.
The body looks pretty cartoon accurate and thats good to see.. Maybe a bit short? Colours a nice! Also cool to see the short version of the sword for a change!
Still dont like the face :lionomad:

I like the last pic so as long as the box is impressive I will be buying one-sadly off ebay though. I guess the normal version is with the large sword of omens.
Cant wait to see if they do a thundertank and see what the cats lair looks like[/CENTER]

Chris here...
I've got to say that those shots make it look a lot more impressive - if that was a posable action figure, they'd have a definite sale right here! :)
Sadly, if $60 really is what they're going to be charging for this (which I actually think is pretty reasonable for a 500 piece limited edition), I can't really justify it - but, it is a much more attractive piece than I first thought it was going to be!
Take care... :)

Man I'm really not digging the pose on the claw shield at all. When did Lion-O ever post with that thing with the fingers all spread apart like he's trying to palm an invisible basketball? Why would they choose that pose? It just looks awkward. Seems they would have given that hand a clenched fist with the arm held up a bit but from the elbow in being more towards the body like he's ready to block an incoming attack or something.
I seriously can't get over that claw hand.....it just doesn't jive at all. I don't recall seeing Lion-O EVER post the claw shield that way.

Ok, so i got a response from AFX via email about the packaging:
Hi ******
It will come packed in Styrofoam in a closed box. Thank you for checking.
Sincerely,
Action Figure Xpress (AFX)
So there we go.. no card with blister or anything else to display it in... its not like the older SDCC he-man, evil-lyn and sorceress MOTU stactions... its more like the king randor AFX sdcc exclusive that they put in a box.

You are right, it looks weird. But watch Thundercats Ho episode 1, fast forward to 19:00 and you will see Lion-O doing a pose with the fingers spread.

Looks like this is up for order on http://www.shopafx.com/thlistfi.html"" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">shopafx.com now. I went ahead and put an order in... I hope I'm not seeing this guy on clearance in a few weeks.
Also, looks like our international friends will be able to take advantage of this as well.
Look forward to reviewing it in hand.

I just got back from the post office and opened my SDCC Lion-o! Though i never sympathized with this one, i have to admit it looks better in person and there is a statue feeling about it instead of a figure. It's larger and heavier than i expected, also the metalic base is preety nice, it came along with the Icon Heroes magnet.
I got limited number 83/500.
Here's a pick next to his bigger brother:liono
Thumbs up for the amazing box art!

wow compared to hard heroes the icon hero lion-o is looks pants.
i would much rather pay $179.99 for a hard hero than $60 for the icon hero as it looks so much better when showing it off.
icon heroes are great if people do not want to spend much but when you look at bengali and tygra coming up for HH you can't critisise them at all or stop collecting them. Bring on the non mummified mumm-ra next please Rob Potts!!!!

I couldn't agree more luketommo2, the quality of Hard Hero's latest statues has been upscaled by leaps and bounds and yeah as you put it, HH brings us the best Thundercats product out there right now to build up our collection, neither too expensive(i have in mind the PCS line) nor figure-like.
Still, i keep looking at my recent SDCC Lion-o and somehow he's growing into you. They might be 6'' and much shorter than hh but there is something about them...
