Kinetiquettes said they were subtly redesigning the characters.

I actually like this re-imagined design, however I doubt I will be buying any of these. Not to sound like a broken record, but if they did these in an action figure (not even picky about the scale) than I would more than likely invest in the line!

Can you imagine if there were a "ThunderCats" storyline inspired by DC Comics' "Infinite Crisis" story? What if 1985 Lion-O, 2011 Lion-O, and Kinetiquettes Lion-O were to meet up at the same time? :D

So it looks like the Kinetiquettes statues will be done as clay prototypes judging by this "making of" video of one of their Street Fighter statues.

I really want action figures, but the idea of statue dioramas also appeals to me. And after seeing pics of some of their Final Fantasy dioramas, I was looking forward to ThunderCats dioramas.

But after seeing their teaser pic which was posted today on Statue Forum, I am disappointed. It is classic ThunderCats reimagined. If no classic look, then I have pretty much no interest in this.

You'll also be glad to know we have decided to have the classic designs as a display option :)

Does that mean you're doing both versions or only classic?
#27
If offering both that is great news! To me it shows you are actually listening to the fans.

Maybe both. But classic is now our priority.

I'd honestly be a little disapointed if you don't get to the reimagining statues. I was actually considering saving up for one of those if ya'll got the design right. I might still get a classic statue if it looks good, but since there's already been a ton of classic Lion-O statues made I'm not as excited.

We also love our design, hence we still want to offer it as an option and not just the classic. In fact, if people saw the pose we designed for him, people might be more receptive of it :)

Thank you so much. I'm indeed very glad to know that you will focus on the classic look.

And for those who prefer the updated look, maybe Kinetiquettes can offer a limited variant version with an edition size of 100 or lower, if the regular edition is about 300.

As a standalone design the updated look is cool but it's not something I have the affinity towards when it comes to spending on collectibles. Also for a live action movie I can totally see that new design working even better, while the classic look will definitely not translate well.

It was mentioned on Statue Forum that this would be in 1:5 scale, so I guess that means if the character stands upright it would be at least about 14.5".

I am surprised it would be in such a larger scale, considering the Street Fighter dioramas were actually in 1:6 scale and they cost about $378 each. So are we looking at $400+ for 1:5 scale? I would be fine even if it was in 1:6 scale.

Either ways, this is going be quite a huge epic diorama set when joined together, Lion-O vs Mumm-Ra in his lair. I hope the final product will be ready to showcase in July like you guys are aiming for, perhaps at SDCC.

I know you guys mentioned the future of the line depends on how well this first statue is received. And you probably have the whole line planned up already.

But after Lion-O vs. Mumm-Ra, I really hope you guys are considering Tygra vs. Monkian. Then the following characters.

Cheetara vs. Jackalman
Panthro vs. Slithe
Jaga vs. Grune

Yep, we are considering that our design might be an exclusive edition.

We originally wanted to go with 1/4 because most statue collectors in the U.S prefer that scale, but because of the size of the dioramas/characters, we went with 1/5. Do note that Lion-O V.S Mumra will be one statue by itself and at 1/5 scale they will be bigger than the usual single character 1/4 scale statue. Not to mention the rest of the dioramas will be connectible with this statue to take up even more space.

And yes, we have those characters you mentioned lined up to follow aferwards :)

One thing. If you ever get to the Wily twins, please release them both together. It would be a real shame if one gets released and not the other.

Wow. Wait, so it will not be like the Street Fighter diorama where the two individual statues make up the diorama?

No. In this case it will be together. We decided to do it like this to increase the sell ability of the statue, where you get two characters together.
#37
That's awesome . That's a ideal approach to entice even more collectors.

I know it will be very pricey, so I hope Kinetiquettes will have a flexible payment plan option made available.

Having this diorama displayed at SDCC will put Kinetiquettes and ThunderCats merchandise back on the map. Thousands will see it in person and many will write about it in articles, blogs and videos.

About 3 months to go and though I don't want it to be rushed, I do hope you guys can preview the colored prototype at SDCC.

@Kinetiquettes I'm considering using your Lion-O design for a flashback scene in a future "ThunderCats 1985" one-shot I may write someday. He'll have a different name and can be one of (1985) Lion-O's ancestors.

They uploaded a new video today which addressed the challenges they faced during production. Once again here are the three videos from their Video Diary series so far.

Kinetiquettes Video Diary 02 - The making-of Evil Ryu - YouTube

I apologise if some of my comments on the other threads etc seemed a bit harsh. It's nothing against you as sculptors I am sure you will do great it's just it's a bit frustrating that it seems to only be statue companies that are interested in the Thundercats licence then never end up finishing the line.
I wish you all the luck and success with the line.:liono
