January 2011 Team Meeting Summary

First...

Happy Thanksgiving/Merry (Happy) Christmas/Happy New Year!

As for the team meeting, here are the highlights:

- Discussed the option of adding more moderators to fight spammers (See MannyC's thread)

- We will be doing a mock WordPress transfer on Thursday, January 27 @:

UK: 5.30pm
Germany time: 6.30pm
USA PT: 9.30am
USA ET: 12.30pm

This will allow us to work out any problems before the actual relaunch of the site.

- Speaking of the actual relaunch, we have decided that the official relaunch will be on January 29. The plan is to try and get as much of the team online at the same time so that we can support each other during the site transfer.

I think it will be also be a great opportunity for all of us to just have a friendly conversation with each other.

I will be online starting the site transfer approximately the same times as the mock transfer:

UK: 5.30pm
Germany time: 6.30pm
USA PT: 9.30am
USA ET: 12.30pm

- Hosting responsibility will be transfered to Neil as of February. He will have access to the backend of the site.

- Chris will become the "go to team member" (AKA the Site Leader), which will relieve me of the position.

- I will stay on as Site Advisor, which allows me to help out whenever possible.

Please feel free to add anything that I left out.

On a personal note, I think the meeting was so much fun and something we need to do more often, not just to talk about the site, but to catch up with everyone. This site is special, not because we have a ton of content, or because of what the site looks like, but because of the personality the team brings.

I have no doubt in my mind that you guys will continue to create awesome content and am honored that you guys want me to stay on (even when I try to resign for the 1millionth time!)

Looking forward to speaking with all of you again soon!

P.S. Apologies to Nick for not being able to bring you into the conversation. Hopefully, you'll be online for either the mock or official transferring :) Glad you enjoyed your football game though!

I have to agree it was great getting together again to talk about things.

On a side note Ive placed Chris under the Admin usergroups on the forums just in case he needs access to the back end of things.

Chris: Ive changed your "Custom title" on the forums to reflect your new role that way people know who to contact if they have any questions

Thanks to everyone for a fantastic team meeting, it was a real blast to catch up with you guys and share some good laughs! :D

I'm really glad to see the site and the team moving forward in such a positive way. First of all, MannyF, can I say what a gentleman you are and reiterate how much all of us on the team value everything you've done - without you there would be no ThunderCats Lair! :) I'm very glad to know you'll be staying on the team in an advisory role, there's always a place for you here, my friend! :)

For my own part, it's a great privilege to be nominated as Team Leader, and even more given that that nomination comes from you, MannyF! You're a very hard act to follow, but I'll do my best, LOL! :) Even though I have that title, to be honest what I'm interested in is the input of everyone on the team, there's no way I'm suddenly going to start looking at this as "my" site, I'm interested the input, ideas and creativity of each and every member of the team - if I had one goal, it would be to keep the team together and enjoying each other's friendship and passion for ThunderCats as we move this site forward to an exciting new era! :thumbsup:

I'm looking forward to the relaunch at the end of the coming week - even though I still have a ton of stuff to do to get everything moved over, I think it's right to make the jump now, it will actually make my job quicker and easier once we've done it! :)

Yep, completely agree with all of the above, I loved chatting with you guys and am really looking forward to doing it again later on this week! :)

Being as everyone is getting new titles, would it be ok if I got one as well in February... :oops: Something along the lines of Site Treasurer or Site Admin, Site President etc... Just something to define my role ;) I think CEO is too business like! :D

Well some people like to be referred to as Big Dog...how about Big Cat for yours :D

I like Site Admin best - I think it best reflects what your role would be! :) Although Site President would also be cool because we could then all call you "Mr. President"! :thumbsup:

I shall be online around that time, be great if it was still going forward - the events of this week have convinced me that the new site is needed more urgently than ever! :thumbsup:

I might be a bit late coming on as I have to pop out, but I should be back for around 7pm. I'll log on Skype then incase your all still around ;) Sorry about this as I totally forgot about it (the having to nip out) :(

I think it's voice but don't quote me on it - I'll be on in about 10 minutes, just finishing something, plugging in my headset (in case needed) and then I'll be there! :)
