I found this slightly old CL ad today. Supposedly the guy wants to buy old toys for his collection. I think its BS because of the very different styles of pictures....but I found a few pictures to be of interest....

Legit?

That is an interesting post, the bttm shelf looks like some unpainted Thundercats protos but I dont know if that is the actual mad bubbler painted proto or a custom. That Grune proto looks really nice. Anyone care to chime in? Either way, its a great collection.

That Mad Bubbler isnt original. I remember it being sold on eBay a few years back. The auction included the container with the TC insignia. It's a very well done cutom made piece. As for the legitimacy of the [owner of the] collection, sure, why not? Dinky basement mancave, seems legit.

The only reason I think the listing is bogus for a "collector" is because the pictures are all very different spaces. sure, I guess he could be legit. but a lot of times I see posts on craigslist of "collectors" that are actually resellers...they just say that as a front.

A few years ago, I sold a large lot of vintage Voltron on craigslist for very cheap. I knew what I had and I knew its value. The guy (probably in his mid 40's) came to buy it and said he was buying it for his brother who was a big Voltron fan. Gave me a huge story on how he and his brother used to watch it on TV when they were kids, played with the toys together, wanted to reminisce about old times, etc....About two weeks later I saw the entire lot on eBay for twice what I sold it to him for. I could care less what he did with it, since I got the money I asked for. but still, its the principle of the thing. if he would have come over and just said he wanted to buy them period or he was going to resell them I don't care. Just don't lie to me.

I have a story that will tie in very well .... a few years back a guy pulled a stunt on me, he advertised a lot of vintage MOTU figures with photo's etc.... and I contacted him because the price was very good and the figures looked very nice. He said it was his son's that moved to the UK bla bla bla ... I was a bit uneasy with the sale and told him I will only pay him half and the rest on arrival (he was to far to drive there and collect) so he agreed. Then I paid the bucks and he just disappeared .... a week later I saw the same pic of the figures on another site, and contacted the guy, he was actually the guy selling the figures and this idiot stole his pics and my money!!! Anyway ... learned my lesson!!

I remember something similar happened to a friend of mine buying a PS2...long story short he never got the PS2.
