I haven't seen the new TMNT movie yet as all I have heard are complaints thus far but probably will at some point. I have to say I enjoy all the memories flooding back with the 1990 movie as well as the sequel and Vanilla Ice haha. Those were some good times!
Like
Mark, I too would suggested that you give the new TMNT movie a shot. Then you can tell us your views about it. :)
It seems we all have good memories of watching the original Turtle Movies back in the 90s. That's the amazing thing about childhood/youth. We develop a sort of emotional bond with movies/music/toys that we experience in our younger days, even if the movies/music are considered terrible by today's standards. It's strange that we don't develop such a bond with the movies that we watch in our adulthood, even if they are really really good. Just one of the mysteries of life I guess. ;)

It would be great to have a well done Thundercats movie. Not only for us "old" fans, but hopefully for my children's generation to look back on fondly as we do with some of our childhood movies!
Definitely! All they need is a clever director and a clever script. It's all about balance really. The movie should have enough ties to the ThunderCats roots to satisfy us "old" fans, as well as enough freshness and updating to appeal to the "new kids on the block". It can be done but I think it needs a production team that are truly fans of the original show. Only then can be respectful of the source material and do justice to it.
Just look at the
"Rocky" franchise. It started out in the 70s and even today with the release of
"Creed", it still has a huge fanbase. Most of the kids who are rooting for Rocky nowadays, even their fathers weren't born when the original came out!
