HH Lion-o questions

Quick question.

I finally got my HH liono, and I was wondering if anyone else found the sword to be leaning slightly forward and if they did how did they straighten it.

Also, did anyone else have the hair and silver repainted? Where would I go to get this done?

Thanks!

i mean, the shaft, so to speak, of the sword is out of alignment with the hilt.

Is it leaning more forward than this (see image below)? There is no way to adjust the angle that the sword is leaning, unless you want to break the sword off, and reattach it somehow. But I DO NOT suggest doing that.

If the sword is leaning more than the image below, you should take a picture, and send Hard Hero an E-mail. They are pretty good on the customer service side of business.

I don't know if the lean is normal but I wouldn't think so as I don't think it looks nice. i didn't buy liono directly from HH though, so would they still honour a defect?

thanks for the help!

I see what you mean now. I would check with them anyway. It should not matter where you bought it from, unless it was from an individual instead of a business. But even then they may be able to help you out.

Good and Bad news~

The bad is hardhero can't do anything for me. It was a pretty crappy situation I got myself into, since I bought it 6 months ago while I was living in Australia and only could see it and check it over yesterday. So it didn't give me much flexibility.

the good news though, and I'm sure we all know this but HH was sold out and that was why they couldn't help me with an exchange. Which means the line is selling that well. Which is great.

But also, as note of praise HH was really quick with their response and really tried to help out with suggesting solutions. So I was impressed to say the least!

Thanks for help.

That really sucks, but at least there is a silver lining in why it sucks... Lion-O (non-AP) is sold out, and the AP Lion-O is in limited quantities, as of Hard Hero's last update to that page. So there appears to be a good demand for the line so far.

As an alternative, could you set it so the blade angle is not as noticeable? At a more head-on angle, the blade angle should not be noticed unless it also leans to one side as well. (similar to the angle for my icon <----).

It's not that noticeable, but I can relate. My third statue (after#1 & #30 something) has a off center sword, meaning the sword is not aligned / parallel w Lion-O's face. It faces about a quarter inch to the right in his hand. Kinda sucks and I'm thinking about selling it and getting anew one but yeah, My experience with this Lion-O statue has been... difficult

The prototype image is always flawless since it's hand-crafted and directly made by the sculptor, then it's inspected over and over again to eliminate any remaining blemishes. The products based on the prototype are made in large quantities in the factories and during the manufacturing process it's possible to come up with a few specks here and there. I've never seen a brand new item straight from the assembly line entirely flawless and 100% perfect, even if we are talking about detailed statues. I think it's virtually impossible.

Your Lion-o's sword is just fine, I won't worry, it's hardly noticeable

mine does that as well awesmith, it doesnt bother me though. i would not mess with it in my opinion but if i were wanting to do something about it, i had thought that maybe heating it up to make it more flexible then "repositioning" it until it cools "may" work, i dont know though. i dont know if there is anything skeletal inside that would be a problem or if it's just plastic. basically what i've done to many distorted action figure accessories like Lion-o's sword of omens usually isn't straight so i'd use a hairdryer, heat it up, move it and set it until it cooled and then i had a straighter sword.

That won't work on these statues. They "Cold-Cast Porcelain Statue". Which for those who don't know, means they take really high-quality clay, sculpt it, then put it in a really hot oven to cook it. This cooking process hardens the clay. And unless I am mistaken, they redo the cooking process 1 or 2 more times, each time making the clay harder and harder.

That only thing heating it up should do it possibly affect the paints.

I see no point in tampering with a statue or figure, these trivial blemishes you mention guys give a unique quality to each product, the 80's action figures especially are full of small flaws like the bent sword, a few overpaints or loose joints.
