Wow, almost makes me want to start collecting the statues. I wish they were a little cheaper.

I'm sorry, but for me it's another example of a poor statue. It simply doesn't capture the likeness of the character. Everyone also seems obsessed with capturing the Thundercats in pained and aggressive expressions. It should be remembered that this was a friendly cartoon for kids. The Thundercats only snarled like that very rarely and he looks more like Jack the Ripper than Bengali. As with the other Thundercats, the body is a nice sculpt, but the face needs work.
These statue companies are really struggling to compete with the LJN line for accuracy.

I agree with the aggressive expressions you mentioned but on the contrary i believe they add a mature tone, besides Thundercats were cartoon imbued with many elements to appeal to older audiences.
Personally i am very pleased with the "roaring" expressions and i prefer it much more than an impassive face.
I think Bengali looks awesome:thumbsup:
Also, i do too believe that the LJN Lion-o,both red and orange hair version, is much better than the one we recently saw by Icon Heroes.

Hey
I agree, I'm liking this statue more and more. I wish only that the face colouring was slightly darker similar to the toy. With it being so light gets a little washed out I think.
I really hope they release a statue of all the main thundercats. I'd hate to get a bunch and be missing a few.

So if Tygra is the 5th and Slythe the 6th, it leaves us with two more statues to be made?
I am asking that because i think a couple of monthes ago HH said the whole line will reach to 8 statues. I might be mistaken.

FYI:
Regular edition of Ben-Gali is limited to 350 pieces.
Numbered and Signed Artist Proof is limited to 50 pieces.
I am a little disappointed that the numbered and signed AP is limited to only 50. I know there are those out there wishing to get all of the statues with matching numbers (myself included). I'm lucky on this one as there are 50 and both of my Lion-O's are in the 40's. But I am sure there are people out there who are going to be left out on the numbers collection on this one.
As for the pose, I like it. Keep up the good work Hard Hero!

I had heard they were almost done with Tygra. But when was it announced there would only be 8 statues, and/or that Slythe would be the one after Tygra? Did I miss a thread or was it published elsewhere?

I see what you are saying aero but is there any big difference in the matching numbers? I mean if you have one Lion-o AP 90 and one Bengali AP 30, you can still interconnect them.
Unfortunately the AP version is identical to the regular one, it is not like they did a seperate and meticulous work in the signed statues...I remember Lord-Liono's case.
However, i prefer the signed statues as well for my Thundercats.

No big difference, since if they are on display it is unlikely they will be on a glass shelf to show they bottom of the base. But on the other hand, there are collectors who just want the matching set. I know the level of quality varies a bit between each and every piece, but there is just something about having matching numbers. Two examples, first if you have a muscle car from the 70's is mint condition, it will be worth more if the body, engine, and transmission have matching VIN numbers. Second, if you have a series of prints, they will be worth more if they are all the same number. Heck, Hard Hero has a note saying you can get matching numbers on your statues if you let them know when you order them.
Granted, I am not out to sell my statues, and being limited to 50 signed APs does not affect my numbers. But I do worry there will be someone out there who does want all matching numbers and will feel they got the short end of a/the stick here.
P.S. since there was a reply before I edited the previous post I made, when/where was it announced there would only be 8 statues and that Slythe was coming after Tygra?

Probably, i must have made a mistake. Sorry. I am not sure, i thought HH's line wouldn't be more than 8 statues and if i remember correctly i had read that from an old post in this forum, yet it might be a misconception.
Grizzlor could you please clear things up about HH's line final number?
Thanks.

I've sent a note to Rob to ask about the rumour of eight statues, thats not something I've heard before, or read about. I know that there was a limited window during which they will own the license but I've not heard anything definite about how many statues will be made.
I suspect that people who are part of the 'keep your number' scheme will be looked after with the Bengali, I've asked Rob about this also.
I'm in touch with Rob a fair bit so if I say something in the forums here you can assume I've heard it directly from the source unless I say 'I think' or 'maybe' or some other kind of qualifier.
The post about S-s-slythe that I made here comes directly from Rob.

S-s-slythe... N-n-nice!
The only problem is I now have 3 of these guys on preorder and only one in my collection.
Looking forward to when the next one ships!

No prob on the number of statues. With so much new news in such a small time (considering the previous 20+ years) it is a lot for anyone to keep up with. I missed the announcement of Slythe.
I contacted Big Bad Toy Store about the number question among other things. I am impressed with their response time already. Anyway, here's the response I got from them:
We will never charge your card for a preorder item until the items arrive to us and are about to ship out to you. At that point we'll then charge the card and ship within the next day or two.
When you get the notice that these have arrived you may email me with the request and if it is possible I will try to match the numbers for you. There are no guarantees but I will do my best that that time. To view shipping rates for your order, please add the item(s) you are interested in to your shopping cart, then on the shopping cart page, press the 'view shipping rates' button. You may need to select your destination country on the list. This page will show the exact shipping fee that will be due on your order if you decide to place it. This weighs about 7 pounds so if you are in the states it should ship for around 12.79.

Hey Grizzlor can you find out something about Ben-Gali from Rob?
In the three pictures you put in this thread I just noticed something odd. In #1 and #2 there are 3 beads at the bottom of Ben-Gali's hammer that appear to be stretched out like tripod legs. But in #3, those 3 beads appear to be hanging straight down.
Are the beads attached by some string-like material? Or is it two different versions pictured (pre-production and production)? Or are they forked out in a line, and just look like a tripod from the first two angles?
Personally, I think having them close together looks better. But that's just my $.02

Hey mcss, I can tell you right now its all pictures of the same statue, same version. They appear closer together in the third picture because of the angle that the photo is taken at.

Thanks. I think it will look great in person, just one of those optical illusions in a 2D photo.

Bengali looks pretty good however the hair line is suppose to be square-ish, not such a sharp V like Lion-O has. The strap on his chest should have been a lighter color as well, maybe an off white and not so dull but all in all its pretty accurate. Anyone know if Tygra will be the same statue with minor differences but the same pose and different colors? mmm...
