Google Adsense Earnings Update

Just wanted to update you guys on the ad test I did for the site. As you guys might have noticed, when we relaunched, I added a single block of ads on the front page (right side) to see what type of earnings we could get from it.

From February to April 2011, we earned a total of $18.39. I actually think that's not too bad for a number of reasons. First, that amount is from one ad on the entire site, which amounts to probably more than 500 pages. Second, this is for three months. And third, while the front page is probably one of the most popular parts of the site, the forum is more likely to draw the most attention...and there are no ads.

So those are my two cents from the three month of testing.

The amount is still accumulating, as the month of May has not yet ended.

So yeah :) Just wanted to share that bit of information with you. The ad didn't generate a boatload of money, but IMO, it does give us something to work with.

Hey Manny, this is fantastic news - whilst I agree it's not a fortune, every little helps, and I also think you're right to say that this is the result based on a trial - great stuff! :)

I'm guessing that this money (along with any revenue from the Amazon affiliate links, etc.) is to be put aside to help pay for our hosting costs, particularly if the bills go up through increased traffic? :)

Take care... :)

I think $18 is an excellent piece of revenue for just that one ad! :o We never got that via Amazon in years of advertising! So that is brilliant news!

Is there a minimum amount we need to reach before we get paid Manny?

As for the revenue, perhaps it should go to whoever paid for Wordpress? If not then oviously the next hosting renewal.

Wordpress is free. The theme that we use was paid. But we should use the money for something else moving forward.

There is no minimum amount, but I'll keep it going since I think the site will continue to gain momentum in the next few months and that should push the amount a little higher.
