I got another email about someone being banned, username -- Unicornwalker:

Why was I Banned? I did not violate the TOS, I am by no means a very active member of the community Purrsia is an admin here and a friend of mine. I happened to sign up for the board a few days before I moved my apartment and I have had the chance to visit the board.

Already emailed him/her about it. They will have to re-register since the username is already deleted.

This spam thing is really irritating for the reasons that they use IP addresses that aren't fixed and can be associated with someone else - I deleted some spam threads off and on a few days ago but I'm so worried about accidently banning good forum members that I can only delete the threads, not the spam-bots.

Yeah we need to be careful with the ban stick. Only profiles that should be nuked are:

1/Dodgy Profile eg: Occupation: MAN, Location: MAN etc...
or
2/Spam posts on the forum from that user.

Guys please don't go banning anyone because you think their username is spam sounding or they haven't made any posts etc... it's just not concrete enough for the ban stick to be waved. We are gonna start alienating folk from joining up otherwise! :(

Been having computer probs, so it's been a few days since I checked these boards.

Yeah, UW is a good friend from back in my first days in fandom. I did explain to her that it was likely an accident she was banned because we're having so many spam account issues here. She's pretty laid back and has ran a few websites herself so I'm sure she'll understand.

I think we all might be suffering from ban hammer fatigue :p

Edit: Speaking of itchy ban hammer fingers, I noticed another friend, Adriana, as banned and unbanned her. I know she's not very active here but she is totally legit :)

Another forum member was banned on accident, Terra Bemani:

Just wondering why I was banned. No reason was given. And I don't even see what I did wrong here.

He (yes, he's a guy) posts a lot, so I know he isn't a spammer.

Could that have happened due to banning IP's Manny?

It could have been. He registered a Gmail account so it wasn't his email address. I'll have to check his ip address.
