Animation Art template created! :)

Hi gang,

A few days ago Mark spoke to me about setting up something similar to the LJN Toy Guide template I created, only for displaying his animation cels. Well, using the LJN template as a starting point, and employing my handy dandy Javascript onClick event handler I built, I think I've come up with a template! :)

Some comments:

- The "Description" header should ideally be closer to the text below it - I've spent ages trying to make this work but am limited because I'm having to work with tables. I think this may be the best I can get it.

- Due to the varying sizes of the scans, all of the Animation Cel images are actually "mounted" on a background in Photoshop, which then blends into the background of their container. The most labour-intensive thing about transferring these cels to the new site is that the old container is blue, whereas the new one is red, so all the cels will need adjusting in Photoshop - however, I think a blue container would look totally wrong in the new site design.

Here's an example of what I mean by "mounted":

Old cel image:

New cel image:

- The "header" on this page (the bit that says "Tygra Opening Sequence" is text rather than a graphic header as on the originals. I can create a graphic header if desired, but I must confess with so much to do I'm trying to save myself some work - plus, the text header is consistent with the look of all the other pages in the new site, and I think that uniformity is desirable - but, it's Mark's call! :)

...I have to say I'm pretty damn pleased with the way this has come out, so I'm hoping Mark that you'll like it too, my friend! Let me know if this template works for you and we can work out how we'll get the rest of the cels transferred! :)

Let's keep moving forward, gang!

Take care... :)

No worries, Mark! Sometime when we're both free we need to have a chat about how we're going to transfer all of these - do you want me to put together a tutorial like the LJN Toy Guide one I did for Neil? LMK, my friend! :)

Take care... :)

Just a FYI I have managed to edit all the images in the cel gallery and edited them on the red background. I have also done a few pages as a test.

Here are the edited images which have also been placed in sub-directories:

Sheesh MannyC, do you think you could maybe do these a bit slower, you're making me look bad!! :) (Only joking! :D)

Seriously, these are great, well done! I'll try and send Mark an e-mail to let him know that this is moving forward, as I say I reckon it won't be long before the whole site is ported over, plus a load of new content thrown in for good measure!

Sorry Chris I was kind of on a roll today. Just so you know Ive just finished the entire cel section, all 30 pages. I think there may be a few things left in the animation section that need to be ported over such as:

About Collecting http://www.thundercatslair.org/cartoon/animationart/about.html

Animation Art Production material http://www.thundercatslair.org/cartoon/animationart/production.html

The Community Gallery though is fully complete. Ive updated my previous post on this thread with the entire list

Hey MannyC, well done with all of these, you've done an AMAZING job!

Yep, there are still a few bits and bobs that need transferring for the Animation Art, they shouldn't take long, IMO you've done the hardest bit by doing these pages! Thanks so much, Manny! :)

Take care... :)
