Mumm-Ra

Originally repulsed by the horror of his reflection, unable to maintain his ever-living form for lengthy periods, also can be defeated by the destruction of his coffin, later somewhat subject to the whims of the Ancient Spirits of Evil Mumm-Ra the Everliving, evil devil priest of Third Earth, has lived for centuries, since the planet was known as First Earth. With his loyal hound Ma-Mutt, Mumm-Ra was the source of all evil on the planet, residing within his black pyramid and drawing vast amounts of power from The Ancient Spirits of Evil. Mumm-Ra's decayed form could be transformed into that of Mumm-Ra the Everliving by a chant which went 'Ancient Spirits of Evil, transform this decayed form to Mumm-Ra the Everliving!' In his Everliving form Mumm-Ra became even more powerful, but was forced to return to his sarcophagus within his pyramid and rest after a time. Mumm-Ra's greatest weakness however, was that he could not stand to see his own reflection, and look upon all his evil. 33. Dimension Doom Even before the Thundercats arrived, Mumm-Ra had made Third Earth his own. He possessed a powerful object called the Golden Sphere of Seti, which granted him incredible power, but it eventually fell out of his hands. He had battled the good Wizard Wizz-Ra. During their battle, the mighty Sphinx had taken its anger out on a wounded Wizz-Ra and exiled him to the seventh dimension, effectively removing Mumm-Ra's greatest enemy. 71-75. Mumm-Ra Lives Mumm-Ra had also battled the vicious Lunataks of Plundarr, who had attempted to take over Third Earth for themselves. For their arrogance, Mumm-Ra defeated and imprisoned them within lava. 2. The Unholy Alliance Mumm-Ra was interested in the recent disturbances on Third Earth when the Thundercats and their enemies, the Mutants, arrived. He realized that the Eye of Thundera, which contained incredible power he was determined to possess, was with the Thundercats. Seizing his opportunity, Mumm-Ra brought the Mutants to his pyramid, and proposed an alliance, when the Mutants mocked his power, Mumm-Ra sank their ship and weapons into the sinking sands outside his pyramid, trapping them on Third Earth. Mumm-Ra attempted to seize the Sword of Omens from Lion-O but caught sight of his own reflection and was forced to retreat. 3. Berbils Mumm-Ra next rested, planning to destroy Lion-O at the Berbil Village, but this plan ended in failure, and Mumm-Ra told himself he would have to do better. 6. Pumm-Ra Mumm-Ra's next scheme was to disguise himself as a Thundercat named Pumm-Ra and gain access to the Cats Lair, having convinced them he was good after saving Cheetara from an arranged capture with his Mutant allies. He attempted to seize the Sword of Omens, but was unaware that if the Sword was used with evil intent, its user would know the wrath of Jaga. Stunned by the power of the Sword, 'Pumm-Ra' reverted to his true form, allowing the Thundercats their first true sight of Mumm-Ra before he fled. 9. The Garden of Delights Mumm-Ra devised a number of schemes to destroy the Thundercats and claim the Eye of Thundera. He attempted to use the warrior maiden Willa to control the Sword of Omens power. 12. The Doomgaze Under the orders of the Ancient Spirits of Evil he freed Tashi and learned the secrets of the Doomgaze 14. The Spaceship Beneath the Sands He allowed Slithe the Mutant leader to retrieve various weapons from his sunken Starship 17. All that Glitters He tricked Lion-O into using the Sword of Omens against another Thundercat and broke it in two 18. Spitting Image He created a clone of Panthro with the assistance of Driller 20. Mongor He used the evil Mongor to instil fear into the Thundercats 31. The Astral Prison He disguised himself as the Netherwitch and trying to trap Lion-O in an astral prison 58. The Mumm-Ra Berbil He disguise himself as a Berbil 33. Dimension Doom He once more battled his old enemy Wizz-Ra, who returned from another dimension and in which Mumm-Ra, working with Slithe, attempted to seize his magic helmet, but was foiled by the combined forces of Wizz-Ra and the Thundercats. 49. Lion-Os Anointment Final Day: Trial of Evil When Lion-O was going through his anointment trials, his final trial, the trial of evil, meant that he would have to face Mumm-Ra within his pyramid. Despite summoning the Mutants to stop him, Lion-O was still able to enter Mumm-Ra's pyramid. Outraged, Mumm-Ra transformed himself into his Everliving form and prepared to battle Lion-O. When Lion-O arrived in his crypt, Mumm-Ra believed he would win the battle easily, until Lion-O realized Mumm-Ra's weakness and tossed his sarcophagus into his cauldron, screaming in pain, Mumm-Ra turned to dust before Lion-O, who believed Mumm-Ra to be destroyed. But wherever there was evil, Mumm-Ra lived, and he was restored to power by the Ancient Spirits of Evil. 66-70. Thundercats Ho! Mumm-Ra discovered that there were other Thunderians on Third Earth, and was determined to get to them before the Thundercats. Using his dog Ma-Mutt, Mumm-Ra instructed the pirate group the Berserkers to capture the other Thunderians for him. With the Thunderians in his captivity, Mumm-Ra handed them over to Captain Shiner, and instructed him to take them to Fire Rock Mountain. Mumm-Ra also revived Hachiman, and convinced him he was to destroy Lion-O. With his plans now appearing unstoppable, Mumm-Ra attempted to seize the Star of Thundera to grant him ultimate power, despite warnings from the Thundercats that the Star would destroy him. Mumm-Ra was convinced when he had claimed it he was now ruler of the universe, but the Thundercats had been right, and the stars power apparently destroyed the overconfident Mumm-Ra. 71-75. Mumm-Ra Lives But once more Mumm-Ra survived, rescued from the debris of Fire Rock Mountain by the loyal Ma-Mutt. Mumm-Ra decided drastic measures had to be taken to stop the Thundercats, who had now increased in number. Still incredibly weak, Mumm-Ra used Ma-Mutt to instruct the Mutants to free the Lunataks of Plundarr to destroy the Thundercats and the Mutants reluctantly agreed. The Lunataks set about claiming Third Earth for themselves, despite Mumm-Ra's promises of shared power. Regaining his strength, Mumm-Ra had the Ancient Spirits of Evil grant him even more power, including the elimination of his greatest weakness, the sight of his own reflection. Transforming to his everliving form, Mumm-Ra set out to destroy the Thundercats, who had claimed an amulet that could repel even Mumm-Ras evil, but Mumm-Ra ended up fighting the Lunataks instead, who were fighting amongst themselves for the amulet and the power to destroy him. With both the Mutants and the Lunataks serving the forces of evil against the Thundercats now, Mumm-Ra used both forces to destroy the Thundercats. 110. The Last Day With the Mutants and Lunataks exiled and tired of Mumm-Ra's constant failures, The Ancient Spirits came to life before Mumm-Ra's eyes and issued an ultimatum: eliminate the Thundercats within one day or be exiled from Third Earth. To prove their intentions, they exiled Ma-Mutt in front of a shocked Mumm-Ra. They Granted Mumm-Ra more power than ever before, transforming him into a gigantic version of his Everliving self. Mumm-Ra then set off and defeated the Thundercats one by one. Unfortunately for Mumm-Ra, Lion-O was able to hold out against him until the day was over, and the Ancient Spirits of Evil saw Mumm-Ra's failure once more, and exiled him from Third Earth. 111-115. Return to Thundera However, the spirits released Mumm-Ra from exile some time later, giving both him and Ma-Mutt new purpose and new life, and constructing Mumm-Ra a new pyramid on New Thundera. Mumm-Ra attempted to destroy the Thundercats new home on New Thundera, but his plans were again foiled by the Thunderians efforts, and he was punished by the Ancient Spirits of Evil for his failure. 118. The Heritage Mumm-Ra went after Golden Sphere of Seti which he had possessed centuries ago, deciding the sphere granted him ultimate power, he attempted to rid himself of the Ancient Spirits of Evil, but found they would not allow him to return to his pyramid with the sphere, and Mumm-Ra lost the sphere once again. 130. Book of Omens Mumm-Ra stole the Book of Omens from the Thundercats, as well as the key to the book, when New Thundera began to become unstable and fall apart. Although the Ancient Sprits of Evil advised Mumm-Ra not to go into the book because it would mean looking into the face of good, Mumm-Ra went inside anyway, defying them and planning to stop the planets destruction and freeze the Thundercats in time. Inside the book, Mumm-Ra battled the newly arrived Lion-O, who eventually defeated him. After being pitted against Pyron, the champion of the Ancient Spirits of Evil, Lion-O left Mumm-Ra behind and escaped the Book of Omens. Defeated within the Book of Omens and his pyramid left damaged, Mumm-Ra would have some difficulty recovering from this defeat.
